Final (non) Fiction and Nature Friday

Thanks LLB Gang for hosting Nature Friday

Today I'd like to share neighborhood story with you.

The story's star is this Sasha Magnolia.
What you have never heard of a  Sasha Magnolia?  Here is a photo
This is a sub sub sub sub species of the Southern Magnolia.
It has German DNA.  This particular Sasha Magnolia
at least 15+ years old.  It thrives best on a slight hill, with good drainage and morning sun and brings smiles to all who pass by the yard.  It obviously loves living here.  It was about 4' tall when it was planted.

Okay now that you 100% confused.  Well let me tell you the rest of the story.
This home is one block from me. The couple who live there have had German Shepherds for as long as I have known them.  Many years ago while on one of my 'hood walks,  I noticed a couple and their most imposing young German Shepherd walking towards me. We stopped to speak.  Sasha was very well trained...she stopped too.  I commented on her most beautiful lush coat.  They told me she was a Plush German Shepherd and she was 3 years old.  Sasha had such gorgeous brown eyes. I asked permission to pet her...which was granted and friends Sasha was a LOVE BUG x 87.  From that moment on Sasha was ok with a little head pat from me.
She loved sitting in the front yard.  This photo was borrowed from
Google but it could be Sasha's twin.
Her plush fur felt like silk.
I witnessed many games of tug of war and Sasha like to chase a Frisbee there in the front yard.   As she became more mature, she thoroughly enjoyed just sitting and watching her neighbors.  Her favorite spot was right there on the hill.  She lived and loved there for almost 12 years.  Her dad told me they Magnolia was planted in her memory.  Thus I call it a Sasha Magnolia.

This is a photo of Layne from a post
in 2011.  Layne was their 2nd Plush G.S.

Kokee is the queen of the hill.  She is  almost 3 years old.  She is their 3rd Plush G.S. I recently saw Kokee and her mom on an EMW. I had my camera but Kokee was not quite ready for a stranger to take her photo.   Her Mom said, Kokee is very much still a PUPPY.

Thankful Thursday and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #37

 Today we join

 I'd like to say

Today is Remember me Thursday to bring awareness to all the precious pets who need a furever home.

for entering me in your Remember Me Thursday drawing.  The t-shirt is purrfect weight for the fall weather that I hope will soon be here.  My grandkitties Mia and Frisco are looking forward to receiving the nip pouches. Frisco and Mia were both adopted from a shelter six years ago this fall.  These are the first photos I received on they day each of them find their furever homes. Frisco was just shy of a year old and it was estimated that Mia was about 1 1/2 years old.

Happy Tuesday: Early Morning at Lead Mine Lake

Hosted by Comedy Plus

Lead Mine Lake

I was some distance away from this area.  I knew it was a bird and there are lots of Great Blue Herons around the lake but this guy was just had odd coloring.  When I downloaded, it I saw it was a life size bird yard art.  The yard with the Pomegranate tree/bush in it was full of  Pomegranates (not Persimmons).  Thank you Ramona for id'ing it for me!!

Sparks and Awww Monday

Photo from my friend and roving photo journalist, Janice.  Her niece in Burlington, NC (about 50 miles west of Raleigh)sent her this photo of a deer she often sees in her yard. At first glance, I thought the deer had his back right foot lifted.
Janice told me the deer's foot is missing.  An animals ability to
adjust is Awww inspiring.

Thank you to our

Host Comedy Plus

So I enlarged it.  The deer is in mid step but OMCs when I enlarged it my mind's eye saw....this do you see it?

In case you didn't already know, my mind's eye always has a part-ee in progress.
