Nature Friday: Pine Knoll Shores Aquarium FFF Reminder

Hosted by my Niece Rosy, and her 2 brudders Arty and Jakey HERE

While we were visiting our kiddos and their kitties in early May we
This pretty fountain is located at the entrance

Seashells found on the N.C. beaches

Even at my advanced age...Seahorses still amaze
 And they dive too.
Top left lion fish
Top right drifters was listed on the wall by the tank.  They are a type of jelly fish
bottom left assorted fishes
bottom right stingray touchy/feely tank...no I didn't touch or feel

Turtles:  one on the right is a snapping turtle
bottom left N.C. Alligators
bottom right a 3D of a Hellbender aka N.C.'s Largest Salamander.
Angel Easy Rider ALWAYS made me laugh uncontrollably when he referred to something being as
dark as a Salamander's A$$.  Turns out he was correct it was so dark in their tank I
could not get a photo of the really critter.

U-352 makes for a wonderful habitat for the fishes...

Lots of laser eyes looking back at us.  Most of the aquarium is dark.
Thus the flash bulb and laser eyes

Thoroughly Thankful Poetic Pictorial Thursday

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is our photo challenge
and did it ever bring back memories

Of my daughter in almost the exact pose

Big M

She was (still is) the apple of our eyes
from the tip of her head to her
slippers of blue.
By fourteen months she was putting together
sentences that mostly made sense;
however, some made me scratch my head thinking
I must be dense.
Once when walking along the side walk
she said, "excuse me bush".
I asked why she said, because I ran into it.
She talked non stop from morning til dusk.
August 1973 she had just turned two.
It was no surprise to us,
when she asked pretty please may I answer the
phone. She had perfect phone etiquette
She answered each ring quickly.
To those on the other end  she brought glee.
Usually her grand peeps and her uncle.
Everyday at lunch her Daddy would call
She could carry on a conversation with all no matter the age.
We knew from day one her personality
would charm and engage.

August 1973

I am also joining the Brian and his pride
today for

I do so appreciate all of your very kind and encouraging comments
on my first quilt. For many years I have wanted to try quilting.  I thought I could do it, and I did.  Now I'm working on #2.

I'm thankful that Teddy and Angel Sammy's mom told me about
Teddy's Aunty and Pam's sister, Carol Dean Jones, who is
 an extremely talented quilter and
wonderful author of the Quilting Cozy Series.
I sent Carol a picture of my quilt and OMCs she sent me an email she loved it...what a thrill that was.
I ran right out to order Book 1 Tie Died.
I'm now reading Book 2 Running Stitches
I love the series for many reasons #1 it is about a group of
woman my age not being afraid to LEARN new things at
a local quilting shop: Stitches.  There is mystery, intrigue and good
conversation.  There is pattern for a quilt in books 1 and 2.

Come on over it is

NOT

But you all know I'm a rule breaker..comes with being a Senior..

Yesterday's Lunch sitting on the back porch with gentle breezes
and probably the last 80 degree day we'll have in the foreseeable future.

When I was a child my Daddy and I loved Ice Cream Floats in the summer.
3 scoops of vanilla ice cream
with Pepsi or coke poured over the ice cream

However, on a hot day in Dixie this is a most refreshing lunch.
A ginger ale float made with sherbet of your choice we like Rainbow
and a pack of NABS!

If you are from the South you know about NABS,
if not here is the scoop

********************************
In 2015 Angel Madi and I did a post about Nabs
Pictured below you will find me posing with Nabs...they are a staple in our house. They come in round and square.   I'm told Milky-Way, the one who came before me, loved to lick peanut butter residue from the Nab wrapper.

If you love Nabs, raise your paw!
Here is what Google said:
Many snack cracker products manufactured by Lance are commonly referred to as "Nabs", a **genericized trademark name for Nabisco snack crackers. The term originated in 1924 when the National Biscuit Company (Nabisco) introduced a snack, put in a 5-cent sealed packet called "Peanut Sandwich Packet".
Please tell us in the comments what you call these delish snacks.

**generic trademark, also known as a genericized trademark or proprietary eponym, is a trademark or brand name that, due to its popularity or significance, has become the generic name for, or synonymous with, a general class of product or service, usually against the intentions of the trademark's holder.

I like that last sentence because it is a known fact Southerners love to abbreviate/shorten
words

Ta Da Tuesday: My 1st Quilt

I am happy to report my quilt has been completed.

Full disclosure...there are some errors, my SIL says there are no errors... just opportunities.
I expect a professional eye can spot them.   Rather than take off the  border and start again, I was able to recover. My theory is...if you can't spot them...mum is the word.  LOL
As you noticed with my blouse, I love buttons so I added one to each corners.

Things I learned:
1.  You CAN teach an old codger new tricks
2. Don't be afraid to try something new.
3. Visualize yourself succeeding:  I felt like I could do it so I tried.

Angel Madi loved sitting on the back of the couch

I think she might have enjoyed sitting on the quilt so this is going to be
it's permanent home.

One thing for sure it is NOT quilt weather in Dixie....we have highs in the 90's most of the week.

I rec'd the following email, picture and video from my Nephew Kat.

Dearest Aunty HiC

It is HOT here on The Hill, and Mom and I don’t like it one bit! 🙀
I do appreciate the AC, and extra fans, but miss spending time on the porch. It looks like a long hot summer ahead. Scoot over Buddy, and share that fan. 😻

Dearest Smart Nephew...
What a wonderful way to cool your undercarriage!!
And Buddy is making sure his nosy doesn't get too toasty.  We have fans blowing here too. Thank goodness we bought new ceiling fans last summer with 5 blades. I will never ever NO never get used to the 3 H's in Dixie.  Thank goodness you and Pup found your furever home before summer arrived.
Lovingly your Aunty

Sparks and Awww Monday

As you know by know, our most recent road trip was to visit our favorite daughter and favorite
son-in-law and their Kitties Frisco and Mia.
When we arrived, my daughter was wearing a tee-shirt with
today's Sparks quote.  I just loved it.

Sparks
are all about spreading cheer and positive vibes via quotes.
I bet you are all as inquisitive as I was about the little black box in front of Mia with the kitty floating.  It is a light.  The kitty is kinda of clear plastic.  It fits into the top of the box
when you turn it on it appears kinds of blue.

Today I am pawticipating in

Mom and I loved last week's post about me, Kat, being in charge! Ha!
HOWEVER,
Can I tell you (and our bloggie furiends) a secret? I like to look like a tough kitty carrying a big meow, but I’m really a lover. 😻 I’m lucky that 2/3 of my pack are sweet, slow, senior pups. I have to keep both eyes on young Pup. 😹
I love them all, and I’m proud to be the one and only House Kat!

Dearest Nephew
Oh my CATS/DOGS.....that is some serious puppy love for sure.
What an absolutely precious photo. I bet you heard me squealing all the way on the tippy top of your mountain!!

Sunday Selfies: Grand kitties

Featuring my Grandcats, Mia and Frisco
When it is ABSOLUTELY necessary, they let their peeps use these chairs.
Mia sits with her Dad and Frisco with his Mom.
This is rather amusing too.
My daughter is hot natured and the furriest 11 pounder sits with her.
See the personal fan on the table?
My son in law is cold natured and the 8 pounder sits with him.
