Saturday: Cat's Bill of Rights #1

I, Madi, have certain inalienable feline rights...that are not being observed.
I heard Mom reading them from "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Loving our Cats".
I insisted that these rights be posted on Saturdays until they have all been listed and properly observed.

"I have the right to observe and comment on any and all bathroom behavior and....
Further I have the right to be highly offended by any closed door
And FYI this door doesn't completely close so I push it with my nose and walk right in.
When I do this, a cool breeze follows me and whomever is in the shower squeals M A D I....
Then I leave...oh and I don't know how to close the door.
That is so much fun.
Signed,
Madi
NOTE FROM MOM AND MADI: My humans sis and her hubby will be coming to see us on Sunday.....THIS TIME...they will be bring Harley (cat) with them. Harley has been feeling less than PURRfect lately. His vet wants to have some tests run that can only be done at the Special Vet Hospital in Cary on Tuesday morning. I haven't seen Harley in nearly 3 years (he does NOT travel well so he stays home)...Mom has all her fingers, toes, arms, legs and eyes crossed that I behave myself while Harley is here and that I am the PURRfect Hostess. Time will tell....keep all your paws crossed for me.
Maybe Mom can get some pictures of us together....

Pot Luck Friday #7: A 'round' Raleigh

Ohhhh you caught me with my head down...I apologize but I'm a little dizzy
from going a 'round'. You'll never believe what Mom has cooking in the Pot today.
Keep reading and you'll see why I'm dizzy.

Raleigh has a number buildings with very interesting shapes.
Today we are featuring this very round bank.
Mom and Dad watched with amazement as this round building was erected...then imagine our surprise when we found out it was going to be new branch of First Citizen Bank. We certainly didn't expect this design from such an old and established bank.

They have very pretty landscaping. Lots of Crepe Myrtles line the side walk
and these pretty Lantanas are nestled on either side of the front door.

This branch of Frist Citizens is located in the newly revitalized North Hills Area of Raleigh.

I tried to find some information on why this particular 1st Citizens branch was built round....
There did not seem to be a reason. I suspect it was just to fit in with the modern surroundings.

Today Mom and I are attempting our first Theme Song Thursday.
We thank Hootin' Anni sponsoring this fun theme day and for her suggestions.
Drop by to say hi to Hootin' Anni...'cause she is a HOOT!!
The rules are to pick a song then use your own pictures to demonstrate the song.
Ok hang onto your hats Mom and I are about to start singing.

What's new pussycat, Woah , Woah,

What's new pussycat, Woah, Woah, Pussycat, Pussycat

To spend with you
So go and powder

your cute little pussycat nose. Pussycat, pussycat

I love you

Yes I do and your pussycat nose!

What's new pussycat? Woah, Woah

What's New pussycat? Woah, Woah
You're so thrilling

and I'm so willing

to care for you

So go and makeup your cute little pussycat face!!

Pussycat, pussycat

You are delicious

And if my wishes come true

I'll soon be kissing your sweet little pussycat lips

(if I dare)

You and your pussycat lips!

You and your pussycat eyes!

You and your pussycat nose!

Madi and I thank

Hal David for the enchanting lyrics,

Burt Bacharach for the beautiful music,

and

Tom Jones for singing it so enticingly!!!!

Mom we need to talk....

Madi: Mom please sit down

Mom: I'm sittin', what s'up?

Madi: This is not about what s'up, it is about what is down

Mom: I'm all ears....

Madi: Do you see what I see in this picture right there at my paw?

Mom: Evidently I do not, I don't have cat eyes.

Madi: I see trash right here on the rug

Mom: Well that is where Dad and I come and go a lot. It has been so humid everything
sticks to our feet.

Madi: UNACCEPTABLE...my Diva buttocks sit here nearly every day on
squirrel patrol and bird watching. My Diva buttocks cannot, I repeat, cannot
have trash on them. There will be demerits!!!

Mom: Madi I'm very very sorry. What can I do to rectify this mistake?

Madi: Extra food works for me

Mom: Why doesn't that surprise me? Extra kibble coming right up.

The flip side of the coin....

Last week Mom embarrassed me to tears when she told the World about my fear of

"The Scary Bag AND THAT I WAS A MEMBER OF PABST (plastic attack bags therapy).

I, now know, she cannot be trusted to keep my deepest darkest secrets.
BUTT I'm here today to tell you about the flip side of the coin.

I, MADI, DIVA CAT, absolutely love Paper Bags.....
nothing about them is scary. I love sitting with them, tasting them

looking at them wondering what/who might be inside

I like Winnie the Pooh's quote below

"You can't stay in your corner of the forest waiting for others to come to you. You have to go to them sometimes".
So in I go to see what exciting things I might find.

Steeple Sunday #25: Our Church

The church steeple(less) featured today is our church, Tabernacle Baptist Church.
The first two pictures (taken on 8/21/10) are of the original church. My husband and I were raised in the church and were married there on February 14, 1970. Due to the declining membership and the location of the church it was sold in the late 1990's. Thirty plus acres were bought in North west Raleigh on which to build a new church. Unfortunately, the area of downtown Raleigh where our church was located was a very bad part of town. Any time there were functions at the church we had to have members guarding the doors for the safety of the members. Things have been 'cleaned' up somewhat today but it is still not in the most desirable area. This is the front of the church. As you might notice we don't have a steeple like most of the Baptist Churches.

This is the side entrance...Today part of it is still a Church called Unity Church and part of it is
called the Longview Center which is an events venue.

This collage is of several of the stained glass windows that were in the original church shown above. If you look closely at the windows on the original church you will see where some of the windows in the collage once were located.
The new church shown at the end of the post was designed around all of the stained glass windows from the original church. When looking at the picutures of the new church at the end you will see many of these windows . The round window on the bottom right corner of the collage was dedicated in 1877. If you enlarge the collage you might be alble to read the dates the others were dicated. The removal, restoration and installation of all of these very old and valuable windows was a major undertaking.

Tabernacle Baptist Church was founded in 1874. These windows dedicated in the late 1877.
Most of the dates are on the windows in the above collage. Hopefully you can click on it to enlarge it or possibly enlarge the below picutres. They are absolutely stunning on a bright, sunny North Carolina day

The first service in our new church was held on July 22, 2001.
We are very thankful the beautiful original stained glassed windows from the original church
found a new home in the new church on Leesville Road. This building we used today is supposed to be our Chapel. There are plans to build a Sanctuary

I thought today would be our last Steeple Chase post because I am trying not to go outside of a 10 mile radius of home; however, I'm happy to report we have found more churches. The Steeple Chase will continue for a bit longer.
