Smokey the Bear on Saturday

More NC State Fair Photos
We arrived about 8:30 am on 10/25.  No crowds and we
were able to see some things we had not seen in the past.
The NC Department of Forestry had a wonderful
display...

We were greeted by none other than Smokey the Bear

I have never seen all the fire fighting equipment used to fight
forest fires.

This is the water 'bucket' that is used for aerial drops

This 1952 former Military  vehicle is part of the Forest Service.

Right next door was a working sawmill

This steam engine was huffin' and puffin' away

Who would touch a Sawmill?
Usually signs are UP because some did something stupid.

Nature and Feline Friday

Hosted by Comedy Plus

Two  creepy 8-legged Nature Friday stories

First from Kat and crew in New Mexico

You will NOT believe what happened on Monday!
Mom and Pup went for a walk around the campground...

When suddenly Pup barked, “Stop!”

Mom was about to step on a beautiful, fuzzy tarantula!

Pup and Mom said he sure did have some fantastic camouflage
Aunty is giving you some pointers....

She would have been terribly upset if she had harmed the big, creepy crawly. Ha!

I’m happy to report I was inside, and out of harm’s way during the entire ordeal.  😹

Dearest Nephews
Ohhhhhhhhhhhh no....as if creepy crawlers aren’t enough ......they are hairy too.
Pup you are a great Desert dog w a fine sniffer.  Mom owes you a gazillion belly rubs for keeping her safe!
  P. S. Kat
I HOPE THAT TARANTULA KNOWS HOW LUCKY HE WAS YOU WERE NOT HOT ON HIS FUZZY TUSHY.
Lovingly your Aunty HiC

Thoroughly Poetic Pictorial Thursday

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Today's inspiration

Life
Down life's highway hand in hand
What fun and glee we've had
A few bumps here and there
But we didn't care
We had each other's back!
Thru thick and thin that is a FACT.
I knew you were mine you knew that too.
What's that Missy
You want a Kissy
Make it a quickie!
 I need a nappy!

Lived lovingly
Incredible journey
Friends forever
Enjoyed fully

Wordless Wednesday Photos State Fair

Tractors for girls
I don't know this little girl but she was so excited.
I bet Dad will be buying her a toy tractor PINK of course

and boys

You know me and lighthouses and reflections!!!
This is obviously a replica of the real Cape Hatteras Lighthouse on the NC Coast
In 2015 we took a tour to see all the NC Lighthouses click here if you are interested
This lake is located on the back side of the fair grounds
The platform you see to the right is where the nightly fireworks display is held.
So pretty and I love how I (some how captured a pink hue in the clouds)

All the rides are so colorful!!!
Yep those folks are upside down..but I will say they are in a cage.
LOL

Saturday October 26, I teased you with one photo of the ginormous Ferris Wheel at the
NC State Fair.  It is 15 stories high, supposedly the highest traveling one
in the United States.  Here are several angles.
Several asked why I didn't ride it?  I do not like heights especially on rides when they stop you at the top and is swings.
All Ferris Wheels stop and start letting passengers on and off.  Can't do that.
The photos against the cloudy sky were rather dramatic

All the seats have a cage around them...

Dearest Aunty HiC
Thursday Morning, October 31

Do we look a bit road weary?
❤️ Kat Your Feline Nephew

Dearest Nephews...you both look rather relaxed....MOL/BOL
BUTT I bet the Staff
is a bit road weary and I bet Mom's sciatica is about to pitch a full fledged hissy fit.
Lovingly your Aunty HiC

The third place we visited was the WRAL-TV Gardens
I saw this sign just as we entered the Gardens
I thought it was appropriate for SPARKS

Bird's Eye View of the NC State Fair

We arrived at 8:30 am on Friday 10/25
Rides opened at 10 am.  The only thing we wanted to ride was the State
Fair Flyer.  It is a permanent fixture there.  It is like a ski lift from one side to the fair the the other.
The view was spectacular.  Only about 25' off the ground.

These folks were directly in front of us you'll see a lot of them. LOL

Below is the area where they have monster truck show
