One extended Paw...

Mom recently bought new rug to put in front of the cold box.  Felines aren't fans of change.  I sniffed at it for a week or so
Then I gave it One Extended Paw Seal of approval.
We have a family wedding this weekend...my sissy and her hubby arrive this afternoon.  They sleep upstairs where the 'puter lives and we like to give them their privacy when they are here.
We might not be able to visit you all very much this weekend.
We'll be back to wish you a Happy 4th of July on Monday
Have a lovely weekend,
Madi and Mom

INTERNATIONAL BOX DAY: My kind of day

We interrupt our regularly scheduled Thursday Theme Song (TTS will be back next week) post to participate in IBD
(International Box Day) June 30.
I NEVER MET A BOX I DIDN'T LIKE SO I JUST HAD TO
PARTICIPATE.

My fascination with boxes started when, at 3 and 1/2 mos. of age,
I discovered the great big cold box at my new home was full of
food!!  This was also the same day Mom and Dad discovered
they had their hands full and I came with a no return no refund clause...MOL
I'm not a box snob, I like box lids just as much as boxes
Lo and behold once a year the peeps put a tree in the house, wrap up boxes in pretty paper.  Then they put the boxes under the tree just for my entertainment.
Some of the boxes have names...this one is named Bow.
Bow must be rather old because there is no way my petite figure could make it cave in like this it it were new and sturdy. MOL

This box's name is DeLonghi but his friends
call him 'De Box'.  I like him because he speaks to me
with an Italian accent...girls like accents, and after all it is
International Box Day....

My favorite box is my Condo box.  It was custom built for me
by Mom.  I specifically asked for lots of windows.
This is my side window
My plans called for a bay front window with a window seat but we Mom ran out of building materials.
My condo is reversible...when there is too much sun I can easily turn it on its side.  Then my side window becomes my skylight
and the open top becomes my patio/garden.  As you can see,
I have a red hot chile pepper growing in my garden
The best thing about my condo is when I'm feeling like I want to be alone, I can sit in it with my back to the maddening crowds.
My theory is if I can't see them then they cannot see me.
So there you have it my post in honor of Boxes the best things invented since Fancy Feast.
Sincerely Madi

Do you see what I see?

Lately each evening after I finish my Fancy Feast
my motor turns into a super charged V8.
I take off in a most unlady like fashion running around
downstairs.  I come back to the family room jump on this
chair to say howdy to the cobwebs ceiling

I curtsy to the window then
I head back to the peeps room for a much needed cat nap.
That is just how I roll

Happy Birthday to Mr. Grant aka Raider's Dad
Sincerely
Madi

COOKING WITH YOUR PALS

OH MY CATS AND PUPPIES I'M THRILLED TO

TO TELL YOU ABOUT A BRAND NEW COOKBOOK

Jack asked his friends to send their favorite recipes to his able assistant, aka Tall Guy (TG).  TG put all the recipes together to create this wonderful cookbook. TG asked everyone to submit the names of animal shelters or
organizations who help animals by rescue or research.
We all read about each organization then voted.  We decided to split  All the green papers, from the book sales between (click on each link to read about their work).

French Bulldog Rescue Network
and
Chase Away K9 Cancer

If you want your very own copy of this cookbook full of delicious puppie and kitty foods and one human food it is available on Amazon by clicking here

FYI: The recipe Mom submitted for me (remember I have not thumbs) is on page 21.

It is one of the peoples food that Mom makes and I LOVE IT!!

STEEPLE SUNDAY #35 The Church of the Good Shepherd

This church has a long and rich history.  In 1873 members from Christ Church withdrew their
membership with the hope of forming a free church, open to all, with no seating restrictions.*
In early 1874 a meeting was held to extend a calling to a rector for the new church.

*Our understanding is that back in the early years, families 'inherited' seats in the church making it hard for new members to find seating.
In 1878, St. John's Guild, an organization of the men of the parish, established the first public hospital in Raleigh.  The hospital soon realized a need to expendand relocated to a large house that provided two wards of six to eight beds.  All of the physicians were Episcopalians from The Church of the Good Shepherd and Christ Church.  All of their services were donated.  Over the years this parish has continued to serve the
needy of Raleigh .  In 1980 The Shepherd's Table Soup Kitchen was opened.  It still seves meals to each day.
This beautiful church occupies several blocks in downtown Raleigh.  There have been many additions over the years.  During a period of 60 years stained glass windows were added. Church families are memorialized in these beautiful windows.
Architectually it is flawless.  The stone work, tile roof

 many arched windows

and doors are very welcoming to old and new members.
These door opens to the entrance.  It doesn't appear that grand until
You see all of the front entrance from across the street.
Attention to detail is shown below as the older portion of the church
on the right is joined to the newer portion, on the left, which houses The Shepherd's Kitchen and Educational Wing.
this arched portico is part of the new; however, unless you knew this you would
think it had been there from the beginning
The Church of the Good Shepherd's campus is in the heart of downtown Raleigh which is rapidly growing.
It stands as a historical becon to those who came before and will contine to serve as a guiding light to its members and all the follow.
