FLYING MONKEY BUSINESS

WE ARE LEAVING THIS POST UP THROUGH SATURDAY DUE TO BLOGGER BEING MESSED UP MOST OF FRIDAY.

Hello friends it is I, Madi aka RR, (rovering reporter) reporting to you from the red room.  A couple of weeks ago, we teased you here
with a picture of a very pretty red plane sitting in the middle of Crabtree Vally Mall.  Today we are reporting the rest of the story.

On Wednesday May 4th, after ~ nine months constrution
The Red Monkey Tavern opened for business.

We thought the red plane sitting in the mall was just for promotion purposes and would be removed.

Don't you just love the monkey door handles?
As you can see, red plane is still HANGING around and is
now in its permanent location.  Mom and Dad watched the entire
hanging process.

This picture shows the heavy duty steel bracket
attached to the top of the plane which hangs over the lower
section of the tavern

There is also another heavy duty steel brace attached to the
tail section as seen below.  Mom and Dad are planning to have
lunch there next week but Mom says she is not sitting under the plane. MOL
In case you are wondering, this is a real sport biplane.
Mom and Dad are planning to have lunch there next week
I was not invitied.  Mom says she is not sitting under the plane.
The Red Monkey will feature steak, seafood and pasta dishes and a variety of spirits.  As the owner stated in an interview, "it will be an elegant watering hole". He goes on to say "we will utilize North Carolina farms and breweries to world class cuisine in a gastro pub atmosphere."  Mom said she'd let you know about their dining experience.
And so that is it for today,
Madi, RR

MY GOTCHA DAY.....

TODAY MAY 11, 2011, I'M CELEBRATING MY
9TH YEAR OF COMING TO LIVE WITH
MOM AND DAD!!!
WE THANK
SAMMY, ANDY AND SHELLY'S MAMA J
for MAKING THIS VERY PRETTY
GOTCHA BADGE.  Do you see the cute Lady Bug?
May 11, 2002, was the Saturday before Mother's Day
(Mom says I'm the gift that keeps on giving, MOL)
Mom and Dad had been without a kitty for nearly 2.5 years and their life was dull, boring and absolutely no fun...that is until they saw a little ball of gray and white fur who did not know the meaning of no and who tested every nerve in their bodies for the first 9 months.  Below is a picture of dynamite me and my
littermate Lucy (who was adopted by Dad's brother). As you can see from this picture, both of us had serious cat-a-tude.
This picture was taken on May 19, 2002.  We were 2.5 months old
Lucy was a calico

Lucy was a rebel rouser too.  When she was about 1, she ate a penny.  It got blocked in her intestines requiring major surgery by a very funny Vet.  When the surgery was over,
he told her Dad the surgery was usually 600.00 green papers; however, since he had the penny he would only charge him $599.99.  MOL  Lucy recovered nicely from the surgery. Her Dad bought a piggy bank for his pennies.  Dad's brother got married when Lucy was nearly 3.  However, his wife had severe allergies to kitties. After being apart for 3 years, Lucy and I hissed and spit  DID NOT like each other at all.  For this reason, there was no chance of Lucy living with us. We had been only cats for 3 years.  Both of us wanted to be Alpha cat. Lucy went to live with a nice graduate student Mom knew from NCSU.  He later moved to Coll-ie-rado and we lost track of Lucy.
BUT THE GOOD NEWS IS I, MADI, HAVE REMAINED TRUE TO OUR SISTER PACK....TO KEEP OUR PEEPS ON THEIR TOES 24/7/365.
SINCERELY,
MADI, aka DIVA aka Mads, aka Puddin' Head, aka Pumpkin Face aka DIP-C, DIVA ISLAND PRINCESS CAT

MADI LIKE YOU NEVER SEEN

Saturday night we had very special company for supper.  Dad's brother, Greg, and his wife, Karen!!  I bet you are asking why they are special, well I have a magical story** to share.
Take a good look at this picture of the real Madi...then

take look at me immortalized on a quilted wall hanging.....made by Ms. Karen for Mom....'just because'!!
I declare it is the spitting image of me...oh my cats...I cannot tell
you how very happy Mom she squealed like a 10 year old
was when she saw this most beautiful quilted wall hanging
of, Moi, Madi!!!  We hope you can see the attention to details
she even gave me whiskers and my nose freckles are purrfect.  There are little mices around the perimeter, and little tiny beads in very strategic places even in my pupils they really shine in person.
It is hanging in our guest bedroom and ironically on Friday Mom bought a new bedspread for the room which is the exact shade of the light green on the quilt.
This is my first look at my 'quilted self'. At first I
thought I had been cloned. MOL
I
Look closely right at the beginning of my
tail and you will see a patch of my furs that she secretly asked Dad
to steal.
Ms. Karen, I must say I'm nearly as astounded as Mom; however, I'm too dignified to squeal like a 10 year old, so I'll  just say
WELL DONE

**Ms. Karen is an animal lover; however, she is allergic to kitty furs and trust me when I say I have lots of furs. So it was very special for her to come to our house for an extended period.
Mom and I really and truly do just love Karen (and Greg) to bits but we totally understand allergies.  Mom and Dad are allergic to pine trees so we don't have them in the house MOL!!
Ms. Karen you are a very special lady to us and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Hugs
Madi and Mom
