Symmetry Saturday

Archdale Building which on the edge of downtown Raleigh

This is the NC Association of Architects building.
My opinion only, many of you may like it
But I DON'T.  It looks like a container car from a train with a lean-to attached.

I think what bothers me the most is all the different building materials used.
Each on its own very nice but not together.

Now I do like the stone wall

Another view approaching from East to West

All kinds of symmetry on the next two.

Feline and Nature Friday

Thanks Comedy Plus for hosting

Thanks LLB Gang for hosting

Feline Friday starring my
My Grandkitties

On Sunday, December 29, I posted this photo

Mad Snapper
left this comment
"can we have a photo of what I think is a ladybug in the corner behind your chair? love the table and chairs."
I replied, you are quiet observant.
Do you see what she saw?
Here is a close up

Not only is she a Mad Snapper she has some magnificent observations skills.
It was still dark when I read her comment..as soon as it was light enough
I grabbed my iPad...so I could give Mad Snapper what she wanted.

I sent these photos with this email:

Currently my Ladybug and her perch are separated. I put her head on her perch posed her in
one of the openings in the chair.
My husband glued her head on once.
It  fell off her perch a 2nd time.  He will try JD Weld so that she can once again
stand proudly in the Ivy patch.

she replied,
"she is adorable.. I often see things with my camera EYE that others don't see. when I am walking around outdoors, I see things others don't. the camera did that to me way back in 2002 when I got the first digital. "
You should use her for
Fake Nature Friday

I replied: that is an excellent idea since currently I don't have a supply of Nature
photos.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #4

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is today's inspiration

Splish splashin'

I can tell you in a flash
on a small boat with waves  crashing
I won't go
Especially out in the middle of the sea.
I have been on a cruise ship in Alaska
never one moment did the seas
rise up to greet me with their mist
and I was pleased.

Wordy Wednesday with Kat and Reminder

Dear Aunty HiC
Do you see what I see? Look very carefully, and you’ll see a little dune buggy in the middle of picture.

THAT’S MY DAD! 😹

He spent the afternoon riding around the desert, kicking up dust, ha!
Doesn’t he look like a Desert Rat?!?

He stopped to chat with the donkeys, but they weren’t amused. Hear Pup saying Hello? HeeHaw!🐴

Please tell our bloggie friends to turn up their volume...

B(ray)OL BOL MOL
Yes dearest nephew, Kat, I see what you see and OMDs/OMCs
I heard Pup  giving the Gettysburg address to the Donks!!
Evidently his warning worked they are running for the hills

Lovingly your Aunty HiC

Happy Tuesday Tale: Executive Mansion

Creative and Motivational Thinker aka CaMT ala Dad of Angel Madi

January surprised us with exceptionally agreeable weather!!
(but that changed January 17)

CaMT took me downtown on another excursion.  Happy Days we found a
parking spot that was free and not 100 miles away from out intended photo shoot.

It occupies 9 acres in downtown Raleigh with numerous gardens and
exquisite landscaping.  Construction began in 1883- 1891.
All the labor was done by prisoners.  Craftsmanship is amazing.

Front View

This is the brick wall on the right side of the front gate.
You might notice it currently my blog header

side view
Slate roof is a work of art

property is full of Rhododendron, Azaleas which put on quite a show
in the spring.  I need to go back when things are a bloom.

There are always seasonal flower beds
and when all the hardwoods are full of leaves it looks like a magical forest

Interesting modern sculpture

The side walk around it is in a herringbone pattern.
We noticed many of the bricks had what appeared to be names.
Probably of the prisoners who made the bricks.

The first floor is open to the public several times a year.  Many years ago we went a Christmas...spectacular.  We took the public tour at Christmas many years ago.
For as long as I can remember the Mansion has also been the residence of many
furry members of the Governor's family.

A side note here:
When I was in the 6th grade, I attended Murphy Elementary, which was ~ 2 blocks from the Mansion..our Governor at the time was Terry Sanford, his daughter was in my 6th class.
The entire class was invited to the mansion and we were allowed to go up
into the private quarters where we were served a delicious afternoon snack.

FRISCO MY GRANDKITTY

A few fun photos from the trip to Raleigh's Union Station on January 1, 2020.  Can you guess what these two things are in this photo?

Both are from travel gone by.  I knew right off what the beige egg shape was
a Hair Dryer.  The green container had me baffled then it came to me
I think it is a  (PTU) pet carrier.

They were part of a larger display called Raleigh on Wheels

Raise your hand if you learned to roller skate on skates  that are pictured center bottom.
We kept on our shoes, fastened the red straps around our toes and ankles.
