Final Friday Fiction and Flower Friday: with Angel Madi

My book: The Rooster Bar by John Grisham

8: too upset
12: this is awful to ask
16:  I really don't think

This was featured on my blog some time ago but it is worth repeating. It is still funny!!
This time Mom incorporated words/phrases from the 8th, 12th and 16th lines of her book.

Hugs Angel Madi

Way back in the mid 80's my sis had a
first and Last date with her friend's cousin.
When mom told me about it, I fell on the floor
MOLing I almost choked on kitty slobber.

Evidently they were going bowling. Mom said my sis was upstairs getting ready.  When she heard the car pull into the driveway, she looked out the window. As the story goes sis bellowed MA HELP... this is awful to ask.  Please tell him I'm not here, I'm too upset to come down. He looks like a Bumblebee.  He has on a yellow shirt with black trim,  black shorts and yellow and black striped tube socks.  I really don't think I want to got out with a Bumblebee.
Mom told me she was biting her tongue as she answered the door in order to keep from laughing.
Mom here: this is the absolute gospel truth.
It was the most atrocious outfit I've ever seen.  I cannot in my
wildest dreams imagine why any 18 year old young man would even think to wear it expect maybe for MeowOween. They were supposed to go bowling then out for pizza.  After bowling, my daughter told him she didn't feel well.  He  brought her home.

Just had to share this giant pumpkin head Dracula
He was at least 10' tall

Yesterday Mara, from Weighty Matters, asked me how life was without Madi....
this was my reply

We miss Our Diva!  Our last 15 months were devoted to care and love of her and we are so thankful she had such a good and  long stretch of quality of life.  She taught us a lot about aging gracefully and how to adjust to your new norms and without complaining.

And I add to this, Madi took these last 15 months in stride probably better than we did.
We worried about giving her the best possible care.  We finally decided to follow her lead, just be...
Three seniors living and loving one day at a time enjoying the journey and not worrying about
the destination with no regrets.  Our 16 1/2 year journey with Madi was always full of good memories
we won't forget.

Thank you Queen Angel Penelope

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #47

Today we join Two  SPOILED CAT
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Well all who know me know that I just had to write today's poem to go with this picture.

Ice cream
The Old Gray Mare aka Cecilia

For this frozen dessert I do dream.
I could be called a bit of a snob
Yes for it I do pine
but only very plain varieties without glob.
I dream and I scream give me cream.
BUTT
When serving this girl,
please leave out the nuts and caramel swirl.
Vanilla, chocolate or perhaps I'll give
chocolate revel a twirl on my tongue.
I like chocolate chips and fudge dip
NEVER,  EVER no NEVER give me Cream in a cone
or I'll be gone
Just give me a bowl and a spoon with several scoops
Delightful I'll be and I might even moan.

Wacky Wednesday and Angel Tocks

A few more pictures from our mini vacation on October 2 and 3.
My dear friend Sally and I have been friends since we were 12 years old.
I am thrilled to say when our husbands met they became friends too.
We refer to their home as a Bed and Breakfast. Each time we visit
she has fun stuff waiting for us on our pillows. This year she had
Treat or Treat Bags full of Dark chocolate goodies.
Did I mention that she is a Fun fun fun gal?
So the hands sticking up out of the bag were the topic of this year's visit.
She found the at the Dollar Store and lo and behold they are supposed to be
salad tongs.

Fun fact about Sally and I.
Shortly after we met in the 7th grade, we were paired to participate in a talent contest.  We decided to sing the theme song from  Exodus the movie. She forgot to ask if I could sing and I forgot to tell her I could not carry a tune in a bucket.  That plan was nixed quickly.
If I recall, we did some type of funny skit which worked out beautifully.

Sally's husband has a small vineyard.  He grows native N.C. Muscadine grapes.
When they are ready to pick, he opens up the vineyard to "pick your own" folks.
Sally calls them Grapenuts.
Every year about mid to late September they start calling asking when they can come.
They are nuts about grapes and lose all common sense.
**FYI: there are bees all around the fruit.
Her husband reminds the folks ** they start and always advises the wear long sleeves.
In an email shortly after our visit, Sally told me this season a lady (who comes every year)  wore a skirt to pick grapes.  YEP you guessed it several bees flew up her skirt.     I do know that Gary called Sally from the vineyard asking her to bring ice out to the vineyard.
I'll leave the rest of the story for your Mine's Eye.

😻😻😻

Now for some famous Angel Madi's 'Tock Shot

This is more of a BUTT than a tocks shot.

Madi was a confident kitty she always enter a room with her tail on high alert!!
I think she was proud of her tocks

AND FINALLY

THE END

Tuesday Tale: D'em boots

were made for what I'm not sure.

Thursday, October 18, 2018, we took our morning walk all around the outside of
Crabtree Valley Mall.  We started about 8 am.  We always walk at least 45 minutes or longer.  It was a brisk, but sunny day, so we started  by climbing 5 sets of stairs to the top deck. There was not a car or person insight.  Just as we stepped onto the top landing, sitting in one parking spot was a pair of men's cowboy boots.  Nice leather boots with intricate stitching.  They looked new very much like this that I took off the internet.

They were huge too of course cowboy boots always look big.  Nosy me went over to get a closer look inside...looking for socks I guess or maybe feet? LOL  I tried to take a picture of the boots with my Smartphone.    I kept clicking and looking at the screen could not see very well due to sunWhen I got home, I discovered I had taken about 10 selfies.
I never take selfies so I have no clue how it got to that setting.  I suspect the phone was on and when I put it in my pocketbook the camera got turned toward me.

When I looked for the boot pics, but found my selfies instead,  I was in shock.  I almost said out loud,  who is that woman on my phone.  LOL I was looking down at it saw way too much of the inside of my nose. LOL
Needless to saw when I saw those horrid up close and personal selfies of mainly my
nose, I could not find the delete button quick enough.  I also fixed the camera.

taken from the internet very similar to what mine looked like

Friday, October 19, we  back to the deck in hopes of getting a picture.  Unfortunately the boots were gone...guess they were made for walking after all.  Hopefully
the owner remember where he left them or the next person who saw them
decided they liked them.
My Mind's Eye could not  imagine how one could  leave their boots there or why.
Maybe they were changing shoes for some reason.

BREAKING News

I did not get selected for jury duty...woohoo.
The selection is random and once you check everything is done my name not juror number.
There must have been close to 200 in the juror room.
Before I was excused a group of about 50 or 60 were sent for an early lunch and told to
be back by 2:15 for court.  Juror clerk came back a bit later called out about 20 names randomly told us to meet her in the lobby.  When she came out to the lobby, we were excused.  I got out of there quick as a rabbit.  LOL
There were about 30 or 40 left in the room.  No clue what happened
to the remaining folks.
And while we are speaking about walking and boots
the gal who sat down way too close to me in the Juror assembly room was coughing her fool head off and looked like she felt B A D.  I got up after a few coughs to move to the outer Lobby and just walked around for 2 hours.  She shoulda stayed home

Monday Sparks to Serve or NOT?

Today I am pawticipating in

Sparks are all about spreading cheer and positive vibes via quotes.

On Friday September 14, I received..........

My juror number is 94.
This is the 4th summons I've received, first three times my number was needed so I'm
probably gonna get called.
Per instructions. on the summons I must call after 5:30 pm on October 21, 2018.
There will be a recorded message to inform me of any change in my reporting time of 8:30 am on October 22, 2018, OR IF I HAVE BEEN EXCUSED or if I .........

If I have not been excused and I am put on a trail lasting more than one day,
I will miss my monthly hair cut tomorrow 10/23/18.

There are 8 reasons you can get off jury duty...
1. Not US Citizen (please provide proof)
2. Not Wake Co. Resident(please provide proof)
3. Full time student (please provide proof)
4.72 years or older (can't do that as they have my year of birth at the top of the summons)
5. Mentally or physically disabled(please provide physician's statement)
6. Convicted felon...driving in downtown Raleigh in morning rush hour and looking for a parking space might cause me to become a felon
7. I have served as a juror within past 2 years or been on Grand Jury in the past 6 years.
My first ever jury summers was 30 years ago. I was selected for Grand jury which lasted a YEAR
YES  12 months.
8. I cannot understand English language
Then there is a 'compelling personal hardship' area.

It will be a compelling personal hardship to me if I miss my haircut
but hey I could just imitate Princess Leah's ear buns. Do you think if I show up like this
on October 23...they will send me home?

Hopefully I have been EXCUSED and we can all have a fun conversation about
Jury Duty...let's talk.

ADDENDUM ADDED SUNDAY EVENING FOR TODAY'S

BREAKING NEWS...

LAST NIGHT AFTER SUPPER, I MADE THE CALL TO THE JUROR LINE AS INSTRUCTED.
ACCORDING TO THE ROBO RECORDING JURORS NUMBERS 1-306 ARE TO REPORTED TO THE COURT HOUSE AT 8:30 AM THIS MORNING.
MY NUMBER IS 94.  ALL I CAN HOPE NOW IS THAT ONCE THERE I AM NOT PICKED FOR A JURY.  IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING JURORS FOR THE ENTIRE WEEK ARE PICK FROM THIS JUROR POOL.
IF I AM PICKED, I HOPE AND PRAY IS IS NOT A LONG TRIAL.
SO DEAR ONES I WILL LET YOU KNOW TOMORROW IF I WILL BE MIA FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE WEEK OR IF I WAS EXCUSED AFTER ONE DAY.

Sunday Selfie on a Day Trip

Tuesday, October 16, we took a short road trip to Creedmoor, NC.
It is only about 25 miles from us just on the edge of Granville County.
Wake County, where we live, is just at the beginning of the Piedmont (foothills) of
North Carolina as you can see from this photo lots of rolling hills

we crossed over Falls Lake
We saw lots of barns and My Mind's Eye just knew there were stories to be told
The smaller one below was more than likely once used to dry tobacco.

There are many many horse farms out this way but due to all the trees
I was not able to get any good photos.   There must have been miles and miles of
white fencing around this one.  Some of the stables are to the left and
farther back up the road I could just see some of the exercise rings.

I mainly took this photo because of this gorgeous tree on the right.
Highway 50 is 2 lane and a major truck route so no stopping along the way.

Our destination was Cedar Creek Gallery
Each October they have a gorgeous blown glass Pumpkins.
Lisa Oakley is the resident glass blower.
We love pumpkins here.
Of course I took an opportunity for a selfie in this beautiful mirror
The gallery has all kinds of art.

Then came all the pumpkins...yes we bought  to add to our collection and another for
a gift for our daughter and son in law.  She inherited her Dad's love of pumpkins and the
both are very particular about stems.
The teal blue (one of her favorite colors) is for our daughter the smaller orange one is ours
