Sunday Selfie on a Day Trip

Tuesday, October 16, we took a short road trip to Creedmoor, NC.
It is only about 25 miles from us just on the edge of Granville County.
Wake County, where we live, is just at the beginning of the Piedmont (foothills) of
North Carolina as you can see from this photo lots of rolling hills

we crossed over Falls Lake
We saw lots of barns and My Mind's Eye just knew there were stories to be told
The smaller one below was more than likely once used to dry tobacco.

There are many many horse farms out this way but due to all the trees
I was not able to get any good photos.   There must have been miles and miles of
white fencing around this one.  Some of the stables are to the left and
farther back up the road I could just see some of the exercise rings.

I mainly took this photo because of this gorgeous tree on the right.
Highway 50 is 2 lane and a major truck route so no stopping along the way.

Our destination was Cedar Creek Gallery
Each October they have a gorgeous blown glass Pumpkins.
Lisa Oakley is the resident glass blower.
We love pumpkins here.
Of course I took an opportunity for a selfie in this beautiful mirror
The gallery has all kinds of art.

Then came all the pumpkins...yes we bought  to add to our collection and another for
a gift for our daughter and son in law.  She inherited her Dad's love of pumpkins and the
both are very particular about stems.
The teal blue (one of her favorite colors) is for our daughter the smaller orange one is ours

  1. I am usually a porcelain/china girl, but oh my goodness, I could be converted to glass. I particularly love the orange one you picked for yourself, very lifelike! Beautiful.

what beauty! There's a new 'christmas shop' appeared up the road from the Hutch, which also had a dispkay of pumpkins. They were ceramic though - but just as appealing. YAM xx

  3. Gail thinks those glass pumpkins are very fine, but Bertie really can't see the point of a pumpkin one cannot eat.

  6. The glass pumpkins are very cool indeed, but dad enjoyed the barn photos a lot more. Whenever he and mom go out exploring new places they like to find these, and on many of their trips around here they've come across some really cool ones. Before they moved from Massachusetts they watched a glass blower in action up in Shelburne Falls near the Bridge of Flowers and Glacial Potholes. He had a big window opened up where onlookers could watch him make some amazing art right in front of them. Enjoy your Sunday, my friend.

  25. I've crossed the Piedmont divide many times visiting in NC and heading to the coast. It really is a beautiful area. I would have a hard time deciding which pumpkin(s) to buy. They are all so lovely and unique. Glad you had a fun outing.
