On Tuesday, April 18, 2020 our friends at GBGV , the French Scent Hounds, had a most wonderful post about safety belts and harnesses for Dogs while in the car.  It reminded me of an incident with Toto the mighty Mini Dachshund.

Way back in 1977 when Toto the mighty mini Dachshund was ruler of the house, we were riding thru the city stopped at a stop light beside a big city park.  Toto was sitting in our daughter's lap she had her hand on his collar. All of a sudden Toto spotted a squirrel running in -87 seconds escaped our daughter's grip and was out the window.

The chase of the century was on at Mach Dach speed. The only good thing about this was he was on the sidewalk side of the car.  Our daughter screamed, as I jumped out of the car I told my husband to pick me up on the other side of the park.  That mighty mini short legged Dachshund ran like a Greyhound focused on tree rodent for lunch.  The only reason I caught him, was because the squirrel ran up a tree. And very thankful to report Toto was not hurt. Anytime we saw his legs moving in his sleep we knew he was dreaming of chasing that squirrel.

This photo is of Toto at his calmest...beside me in the chair belly up.

From that day on he wore his leash in the car and the window was never more than about 4" opened.

LESSON LEARNED...and FYI Toto taught us all kinds of lessons.

Happy Tuesday with my nephew

Thank you to our

 Hostess Sandee at Comedy Plus

Dearest Auntie HiC

We’re not sure how Dad found out about this place, but we are all happy he did.

Beautiful views, lots of birds, and it even snowed.

The Peeps had hoped to watch the Lyrids meteor shower here where the sky is so dark, but we had cloudy skies.

The bird-watching made up for that❣️

I watched so long, I fell asleep. 😹

❤️ Rocky

PS Dear Friends today I have some REAL horses to show you!!
Sangre de Cristo mountains from campsite, but obscured by snow this morning.

OH MY CATS ROCKY!  Auntie loves theses photos and video and music OMCs that mountain range.
And look at the snow…y’all are officially snow chasers.  Your dad knows all the secret special places.  Golly I am sorry about the meteor shower being spoiled by clouds.
Love and hugs to you all
Auntie HiC
