Saturday Stuff

Ace Hardware sales some of the bottle soft drinks we remembered from our youth

Moon and Venus  on the way to the west to rest.
6:30 am from my back porch look over the neighbor's house

First time I've ever seen a Rocky Mountain bike in person.
KB over at Romping and Rolling in the Rockies rides one in the snow
I guess it is used on dirt trails.

Early afternoon the sun begins peeping through our octagonal window

moving down to the Angel Madi's favorite sun puddle chair
then across the back wall where it reflects in double time
eventually it has a brief appearance over the TV

Then fast forward about 2 days after the above photos to these.
I walked into the dining room, grabbed my iPad to show
you how the sun becomes low enough to shine in the 2nd octagonal window
to the dining room wall.

I turned to find Sunny putting on a brilliant display as she peeped in the rights side.
I love how the iPad captured the sun rays.  This is straight out of
my iPad no enhancements..

Nature and Feline Friday

Hosted by my Niece Rosy, and her 2 brudders Arty and Jakey HERE

Today's Nature photos were snapped last Saturday when it was in the mid 70's
.  We had rain moving in on Sunday along with a cold snap.   Mother Nature needs a vacation.
I was worried the cold weather might shorten the blooms below.
Our dogwood blooms were about to burst open and we had our newest Daffies with an orange throat in full bloom.  Along with the Native Red bud

Sadly the glorious orchid is not at my house.  It was thriving at a garden center
Bottom right is a close up of the Japanese Maples leaves just popping out.
Large photo shows the Forest Pansy Redbud and Red Japanese Maple

Oh my Nephew Kat cracks me up!!
Earlier this week I received this email and photo of Kat examining his mom's furs.

Dearest Aunty HiC,
I’m happy all your blogger friends like me and my emails.   I like having lots of friends.
I was noticing that Mom needs to color her hair and cover up that gray. Should I tell her, or is it best to keep my mouth shut? Teeheehee. 😹
❤️ Kat Your Feline Nephew

I replied:

Dearest Nephew Kat......
I suggest that maybe you tell mom you see just a wee bit of grass in her fur.  She will go comb it and see the gray all by herself.
Winner Winner... and you might get a chicken dinner to boot.
Your loving Aunty HiC

Tuesday Dog Tale

I'm happy to be surrounded by animal lovers on my
cul-de-sac. Today I'll tell you about
Jack the tall, dark and handsome English Labrador Retriever who
lives 3 houses down.

His mom has a monogram, drapery and upholstery business in her home.
Every spring she has an open house the 2nd week of March.
The first night is for neighbors only.
Three weeks ago I attended this year's open house.
Jack wins my heart every time I'm around him.  I mostly
see him out walking his human. However, the night of the open house
Jack was acting as the welcoming committee of one.
When the door bell rang, all 85 lbs of handsome, shiny, muscular Jack greeted
us with enthusiasm.   Once we had all checked in with Jack, we started looking at all
the things his mom can make.  I asked if she could make me a key ring with NCSU ( N. C. State University on one side and my initials on the other side.
Jack's lives with die hard UNC fans....we are die hard NCSU fans
NCSU/UNC are arch rivals.  She immediately told me she wasn't sure her machine could/would
monogram NCSU....but she would try. LOL
I forgot my camera the night of the open house.  When she called to tell me my key ring was ready, I asked if Jack would do a photo session.  She said he'll do anything for biscuits.

His human told us a funny story... about P A P E R.
She can only say that word in the morning.  When Jack hears it, he
does a happy dance in the foyer.  Trust me when I say an 85 lb Lab turning circles in the foyer
is funny.   Other than being handsome and fun and an all around joy
Jack has one job.  When his mom says paper, she opens the door at the same time.
Jack happily sashays down the drive way to retrieve the morning paper.
Once it is in his mouth he sits at the end of the driveway looks around to make sure the
cul-de-sac is squirrel free.  Then he meanders back to the house checking and leaving pee mail that was left for him over night.

Dear Aunty HiC,
Mom says this photo purr-fectly captures my purr-sonality; sugar with a little spice. Teeheehee!
I love you!
❤️Kat Your Feline Nephew

I replied,
Dearest Nephew...I 100% agree with mom and OMCs your nosy is the color of a spice maybe Nutmeg or Cinnamon.
With all my love
Your devoted Aunty HiC...
Sparks
are all about spreading cheer and positive vibes via quotes.

Taken on a glorious Saturday 55 degrees, blue skies w/o a cloud.
Shelley Lake looking across bottom left in collage above.
As we crossed one of the bridges, we saw these ducks.
When I down loaded my pictures, I found a happy accident. Ducks and sparkles in the water.

Our main reason for visiting Shelley was quite exciting but alas not very good photos.
Just 1/2 mile from our house we have a Bald Eagle nest.
Click here to read about it
https://abc11.com/pets-animals/bald-eagle-nest-spotted-in-raleigh-park/5159699/

We had hopes of possibly spotting the adults going to and fro
for groceries for their eaglets.  Many folks have seen white heads popping up and
down.

There are notices along the trail with Eagle info and telling folks to
be respectful of their space
Thankful mom and pop bald eagle made their nest way off the trail.  The pine tree must be close to 100' tall and is right on the edge of the lake...near the where the eagles like to shop for groceries
