Caturday Art and Symmetry

Artistic Murals on the side of several buildings in Downtown Raleigh

The Parrot with a pipe amused me.  The pirate is probably representing Blackbeard...he had a 'colorful' history on our coast. He is considered a native son: Blackbeard kind of lived and worked in North Carolina and certainly died in the shallow waters off Ocracoke Island on Nov. 22, 1718, when his head was cut off during a battle with out-of-state authorities
I really liked how existing pole was painted to be part of the lighthouse and lantern.
Raleigh is overflowing with multi purpose buildings and parking decks
Which is good since they can't do much to increase the size of the streets or
add street parking.
More apartments  and at least 3 more multipurpose buildings under construction behind it.

There is a section in downtown Raleigh called Glenwood South
Glenwood Avenue begins at the here ending about 20 miles to the north just before it joins Hwy 540.
All kinds of multipurpose buildings, and a zillion places to delight your tummy
and entertain your soul  Hibernian Pub and Restaurant , established in 2000 with a wee touch of
Ireland.  It is owned by an Irish man.
In December 2012 (I think about the 26th) early in the morning it caught fire
burning to the ground.  They rebuilt trying to keep original
architecture with added flair the second floor.

Another example of a sea of symmetry.

Nature and Feline Friday with Kat and some other Cats

Thanks Comedy Plus for hosting

Thanks LLB Gang for hosting

Mom and Dad took a day-trip to Nevada’s oldest state park, Valley of Fire.
According to Wikipedia:

The state park derives its name from red sandstone formations, the Aztec Sandstone, which formed from shifting sand dunes 150 million years ago. (Wikipedia)

They saw several big horned sheep, and this guy was nice enough to pose.
Bighorn Sheep who probably is the boss of Valley of Fire, Nevada where he resides

I watched the video on Dad’s laptop,  and I’m happy I stayed home. 😹

Drive thru some of the most gorgeous Red Rocks!!
Mom of Kat and Pup took both these while Dad Drove

Deareast nephew!!!
OMCs can you imagine getting up close and purrsonal with that Big Horn Sheep?
You are for sure in some beautiful country.  I loved the red rocks!!
Good to hear you were in charge of the Wheelie house
Lovingly your Aunty HiC

Feline Friday in Abstract
can you see the kitty
called Pens and Paws,
I think every kitty needs eyes so I added buttons
I might embroider mouth before it is finished
I like this print; however, if I used it again I'll substitute a teal to replace the white to
give it a pop.

Both kitties have white heads, backs and a tucked tail.

Both will be added to a quilt in progress that will have samples of all the
blocks I have learned.

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #3

Today we join Two  SPOILED CATS
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.

Here is today's inspiration

Lady
(this poem is based on facts)

When I was three, with my Annie Ma I stayed.
She was fun and a good cook
But in the kitchen with her I could not be.
But that was ok.
I went out into the yard with glee.
Her yard was magical and it was where
Lady would be.
Lady was a collie with glorious long furs
Lady had some pups.  They did not purr.
In a moment of insanity, I took Annie Ma's scissors
out in the yard with me.
I decided Lady was probably hot with all that fur.
So I went snip, snip on her and her pups
and EVEN on me.
When I was 'caught', you could hear Annie Ma exclaim,
what have you done?
I'm told I replied,
"Lady and her pups were so good they did not move."
Their furs would be ok but golly gee,
I had chopped off all my curly furs on one side.
I was taken to a professional, who tried to even it up.
However, I came home with fuzz not fur.

oh my oh ME.

Wordless Wednesday

ALMOST

My friend Kathy lives on the coast of Oregon.
Last Friday they had 100% chance of rain and high wind.
Molly the Golden Retriever (they adopted her at about 2 or 3 years old)
is beyond spooked by wind.  Obviously from her former life.

Kathy sent this email and photo just too precious...Molly must like it; however,
she did not walk with this on.

We did do a quick "walk about the park" before the rain, but it was blowing 20 mph already! Getting worse and "you know who" is more nervous than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs! LOL
Do you think this would help?

Happy Tuesday: heads or tails

As many of you might remember, Dad of Angel Madi and
I walk 5 days a week between 8 am and 9 am in and around our local Mall.
We always walk when it is raining.  The mall has lots of covered areas.
If it is above 35 degrees, and NOT windy, we walk outside
If it is below 75 degrees, and not humid, we walk outside

While we walk, we find all kinds of treasures, mostly coins and occasionally paper money.  In past years we turned in a passport and several debit cards to the mall office.  Any money goes into a very large jar.  At the end of the year,
we take the bank to be counted by their automatic  teller.

Spring and Heart asked to be in this year's post about the money.
Take it away Spring and Heart

Are you ready for the total

Bills:  $17.00
quarters: $21.75
dimes: $13.50
nickles: $3.60
pennies: $6.00

TOTAL of
$61.85

Moral to this post:
Walking is good for you mind, body and
wallet!!

Sparks and Awww Monday with Kat

This Sparks is in honor of Kat and Pup and their love

Hosted by Comedy Plus

Dearest Aunty HiC

Well, according to my expert navigational skills (thx Google Maps),  we’ve traveled exactly 2,014 miles since leaving home 10/20. 🙀
I keep asking, “Are we there yet?” 😹

To tell you the truth, Mom and Dad have been very depressed since losing Sassy, Buddy, and Dakota within months of each other. 😿

The house, and property are filled with memories, and they just needed “changes in latitude, changes in attitude”,  as Jimmy Buffet would say.

The Nevada desert has been just the change they needed.

Dearest Nephew Kat the Navigator
You have kept excellent records, Uncle and I were wondering about the number of miles.  Thank you.

Oh my goodness do I understand your Mom and Dad's feelings.
All their precious seniors in such a short time.
When I met your Mom nearly a decade ago, Zack, Sassy and Buddy were such a gorgeous Trio of Labs.  I'm so glad you and Pup came into their lives and MOST OF ALL I'm very very very proud and impressed with how easily you became King of the Road in your Wheelie house.
What a wonderful place to heal...and I say stay as long as it takes.
Sending loving thoughts and many warm hugs
Your Aunty HiC

Addendum regarding Wild donks I mentioned on Friday
These are the donkeys that visit our campsite every night after we go to bed....🐴🐴🐴

AND they BOL, Bray out Loud too.
Love your nephew Kat

Sunday Status report

Many of you might remember the below post for early December

As of January 2, 2020 they were still living in our garage.
I called Fed Ex again.  Evidently the first gal I spoke too in December
DID NOT ENTER A PICK UP order. While the 2nd lady was entering the info
for pick up, I asked her if she knew the value of a Family of Wild Turkey Decoys.
OMCs I was stunned to learn they are $450.00 before taxes.  Probably $500. 00 with taxes.

I'm happy to say they flew the coop/garage, January 9, almost a month
after they arrived.

Favorite BIL of Angel Madi and favorite SIL of ours, always gives me a nice wish list from  Cabela's for his bday and Christmas.  He is a real outdoors man.  Items I chose were a big gong target practice thingie  which arrived last week and 2 smaller items.
Last Monday  night we received a huge Cabelas box via Fed Ex.  They rang the bell but were gone before we got there. I knew it wasn't mine 'cause I didn't order anything the size of a kitchen table.  Anyway after a long conversation (30 min. conversation)  w /Cabelas they are having Fed Ex come for it. It was addressed to me and had my order number on it.  But as she found out when checking the order it was not mine.
The Lady asked me to open it to look for a packing slip.  It took both of us to get the box opened.  Lo and behold  it contained 4 turkey decoys from  Dave smith Decoys.  You might have heard us gobbling uncontrollably.  Below is a photo of Dad of Angel Madi holding the  largest of the 4.

And to add to the mystery...some how one of the smaller items I ordered for SIL, was in the box.  For sure a first for us.
