While I take an inventory of things on the dresser, we'll tell you about Petunia. Years ago mom worked with an older man
who called her Petunia. When she asked him why he called her
Petunia, he said Petunia was easier to say than Cecilia.
The odd thing was this man's name was Cruda...seriously!!
Recently mom was sitting on the couch by the back door.
She caught a glimpse of something at the door. When she
turned to look, lo and behold there was a BUNNY
at the back door standing on 'her' hind legs looking in the house
Oh how I wish I had seen it be alas I was napping upstairs.
Mom hopped (pun intended) up quickly to get the flashy beast.
When she returned look what she saw,
my new BBF(best bunny friend)
snacking on purple Petunias. Evidently they are a delicacy
for bunnies. We decided to name her Petunia
because we don't think Cecilia is a good name for a bunny.
Then later Dad said I spy Petunia lounging at the edge of the deck!!
Petunia (the smaller bunny) and either her Mom or older sibling.
Prior approval granted:
Mom, Dad, Dad's bro aka Uncle G and his wife, Auntie K, are taking a sentimental journey today to visit, *Saxapahaw, the home town of Dad and Uncle G's mom. She would have been 107 on July 5th. It is about an hour away from us...mom promises to catch up when
she returns.
Hugs,
Madi

Bunny TV! You have a new channel to watch at your house Madi! Now we know what happens to Mom's petunias........
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Petunia is so cute! Your Mom is nice to let them have a little taste of her plants. The head peep is not so understanding about the deer and our shrubs!
ReplyDeleteOh what fun to have Petunia to come visit. She won't eat much. And then a family member came along too. Soon you will have a whole porch full of bunnies. Madi, you had better nap by that door so you can see them.
ReplyDeleteHope the Mom and Dad have a great trip today.
Poor Madi, home alone, hope they leave the blinds open so you can watch Petunia. love the name, love the bunny, love the whole story.... tell Mom to have a safe and fun trip today... just read Marg comment. LOL MOL on a porch full of bunnies.
ReplyDeleteI think we have Petunia's cousins living in our yard. Why they love my hostas flowers and they are purple or white. They must be on some sort of purple diet.
ReplyDeleteI don't chase after the bunnies, why if I did Lee would be mad at me. I am only allowed to go after squirrels and moles and chippers.
Sweet William The Scot
Awwwwww Petunia is sooooooo cute.... I (Frankie Furter) just ADORE bunnies... Ernie wants to chase them... NOT me... I want to be furends with them... I hope that Petunia STAYS close to your house fur EVER... so you can become furends too. Hope your mom and dad have a grand time today...
ReplyDeleteHari Om
ReplyDeleteOh yes, my father used to lament the loss of his petunias to the bunny crowd....
Love the name of the town and let's hope it is a fun and happy time to had by all... Hugs and whiskeries, YAM-aunty xxx
That is very nice of you, Madi, to let M<om and Dad go on that nice trip. We bet Dad and his brother have many fond memories of Saxapahaw.
ReplyDeleteFunny thing, Mom's Dad used to call her Petunia too:) Maybe that little Petunia on your deck will come to your window and give you a nosetap on the glass:)
Woos - Cara and Lightning
Have a great trip Cecilia. We had some wild/tame buns. They didn't run from us. But, I'm betting the hunter/war kitten clan have a lot to do with why we don't see them any more. Wave, Evie (aka Eve-vil and Target are all hunters.
ReplyDeletewe have bunnies in our yard also, we feed them lettuce, did you know my little sister named Kody's (piper's momma) middle name is Cecelia also...when she was little she could not say it so she said her name was Kody Celery....lol....stella rose
ReplyDeleteThat is some cute Petunia bunny sweet Madi!
ReplyDeleteAwww... what cute bunnies you have.
ReplyDeleteBunnies are so cute - but they leave a lot of bunny pellets. we had a little one that last year. He lived under our front steps and would come out and eat the grass.
ReplyDeleteWhen the peeps moved the steps to paint - OMD! No wonder he had moved on - his place was filled with poop pellets
hugs

Petunia is an awfully cute name but tell mom we think Petunia is a skunk
ReplyDeleteLily & Edward
Oh, Petunia is adorable! We wouldn't mind having a Petunia to watch at our flowers. We'll insist our mom pick up some petunias the next time she's out and about. Have fun in Saxapawah!
ReplyDeleteSet out a water pan to see if Petunia leaves your flowers alone. Rabbits are actually interested in the water content of nurtured flowers and vegetables.
ReplyDeleteWe hope the humans enjoy the visit. Short trips are awesome--less recuperating ;-)
Ohhh, they are so adorable. I would gladly let them eat my petunias.
ReplyDeleteDip and Elliot x
OMG! Lovely!
ReplyDeleteYou have your own bunny? Me and Stanley like to chase bunnies! We kept seeing them on our vacation and mom says I have a strong prey instinct. IDK what that means, I only know it was rabbit hunting season! Are you gonna let your Petunia in the house to play with you?
ReplyDeleteYour Pals,
Murphy & Stanley
You've got cute BBFs, Madi! It's always fun having friendly critters that live in the back yard. We have a chipmunk that lives under our back deck. We named him Thelonious. We love when he comes out to "play" with us! Or more like taunt us through the windows...

Petunia is very cheeky to eat the flowers!
ReplyDeleteCute story about the name Petunia! My cats watch a nightly visiting bunny too.
ReplyDeleteAw, what a cute little bunny. We've got a couple of bunnies around here and they've been eating all the mom's petunias!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute little bunny neighbor that Petunia is, hope she comes by to visit more often. Also hope your family has a wonderful trip.
ReplyDeletePetunia is very cute. You're so lucky, you have bunnies and hummingbirds and all kinds of interesting visitors.
ReplyDeleteTell your mom and dad to travel safe.
Wally & Sammy
We go crazy if we see a bunny in our yard. Our dad doesn't like them eating his precious plants.
