We three seniors, Madi, *oldest senior; Dad, next senior; and mom
youngest senior. (*Now that I am 14 in cat years that makes me 72 in human years )

were watching The Rise of Cats on NatGeoWild on the TVeeees.
We learned a ton of stuff and saw some most gorgeous felines from wild to domesticated.
We learned that felines are highly evolved critters who have adapted themselves to many climates and environments all over the world. Domesticated cats are the most successful of all cats (but I knew that).
Toward the end of the 2nd night they started talking about a "Palace Cat"!!!
I told mom she needed to find out how I could get my own Palace....
She headed over to Google lickety split..typed in Palace Cat and this is what came up
Pallas Cat!! not Palace Cat mol mol
OMCs, if I was a fighter not a lover, I could probably take this critter down. It only weighs between 5.5 and 9.9 lbs. I could squash it by sitting on it.

The Pallas's cat (Otocolobus manul), also called manul, is a small wild cat with a broad but fragmented distribution in the grasslands and montane steppes of Central Asia. It is negatively affected by habitat degradation, prey base decline, and hunting, and has therefore been classified as Near Threatened by IUCN since 2002.[1]
The Pallas's cat was named after the German naturalist Peter Simon Pallas, who first described the cat in 1776 under the binomial Felis manul.[2]
Here are a few photos taken of one at the Munich Zoo

- ZOOLOGY(of an animal) appearing or active in twilight.
I was quite pleased with this program we all learned a lot!
Mom said her 2nd favorite wild cat was the Clouded Leopard!!
My human LOVES Pallas cats! She would love to be able to see one in person someday.
ReplyDeleteThat is a cute kitty. We've never heard of it before. And we're equal opportunity cat-chasers, so we think we'd like it.

Hey Madi!
ReplyDeleteWow, we love NatGeo and AnimalPlanet and Discovery too! Sounds like a great show and I'll bark to my peeps to check it out. Gosh, I think you still deserve a palace even if it was really about that gorgeous wild kitty.
Grr and Woof,
Sarge, Police Commish
wow, i have never heard the name or seen one of these, not even a photo or on TV.. live and learn and wait long enough and just about anything can and will show up in blog land... the reason i have never had a cat is the nocturnal twilight thing of roaming at night and walking on sleeping people.. i am an ultra light sleeper and do not like being awakened at night. that is why our dogs are trained to never get on the bed. have you ever tried to tell a cat to stay off the bed?
ReplyDeleteoh we love to watch such things in tv, we are glued to the info channel every day (specially today with the last terror attacks). If you ask me that pallas cats are super cute, but I wouldn't live in a palace... cat stevens (hahaha purrfect name) once said there is too much emptiness in such a crib and my momma said there are too much rooms to clean in such a pawlace :o)
ReplyDeleteOMD we have NEVER heard of a Pallas Cat before... we love learning New thingys... butt we think YOU are MUCH more BEAUTIFUL than that Pallas Kitty. and we also think that you ALREADY live in a PALACE.
ReplyDeleteAND now we learned a lot from you too. We think you definitely should have a palace. We know the kitties at The Pouponette blog have a very pretty one.
ReplyDeleteMom adds that we both have a long way to go to catch up to the "seniors" in this house:)
Woos - Ciara and Lightning

What a beautiful wild cat. You can definitely see where the domesticated cat comes from when you look at it's features.
ReplyDeleteActually we learned Ted is crepuscular, we thought he was nocturnal but apparently hamsters and rats are.
