Thoroughly Poetic Thursday #58

       Two SPOILED CATS,

Angel Sammy and Teddy find such inspiring photos for us

Here is today's inspiration

Dry Goods
(this isn't really a poem but just things I see)

My first impression of this challenge was
Uh oh!!
Then I let the party in my mind's eye go.
It saw so many things.
The owner
happy to serve his customers with a smile.
His shelves stocked with all they need and more.
A place where its citizens and catch up on news
while buying supplies.
Soaps, fabrics, paints, fencing and netting.
Crafty ideas like the colorful chain of paper rings.
I zoomed in on different items
On the counter there is a sign reading:
modern currency accepted.
Top shelf on the left I saw Zebra Pest Control
I goggled it.  Guess what it is still in business
in Livermore, California.
So to Angel Sammy I say thank you for finding this most interesting photo.  It gave me the opportunity to really look at it.

  6. OH how I would love to shop there . And to me, the proprietor looks like a butler who is finished for the day and headed to his room. So I focused n the man instead of the store which is highly unusual for me. I LOVE places like that and usually I am looking at the shelves and pricing. But couldn't get past the owner there.

  7. you saw thing easy did not see and did not see what easy saw and I saw a photo that upset my OCD self. it jumbled my thoughts. I had to go back and look to find what you saw and there it is. i like these days because each of you that play see such different things in one photo. I focused on the man like Katie did and thought how glad I am I live today and that I prefer my General buy everthing store Walmart over the old General store, when we shopped in stores like this, all i saw was the CANDY. LOL

  8. There sure is lots to see in that store. We wonder what the "old" currency was.

  9. It is a fun photo packed with lots of visual interest. I miss the old stores like the photo. We have a Babes Hardware that is an Ace Hardware store and it is a jump back in time when we go in. Takes me back when I used to go with my Dad to run Saturday morning errands. Special memories! I enjoyed your poem... think it's a poem!

  11. We totally fell in love with the photo when we saw it. In this part of Virginia because of the survival of a lot of really old little villages - there are still "mercantile" business just like this. They really do have just about everything and the best part is going inside and walking on the wood plank floors and just smelling the variety of fabulous aromas of "things". It also brings back tons of memories - one of my all time favorite places like this was in Selma, Alabama. I was just a kid but I could stay in there for HOURS looking at things - Mom practically had to drag me out of there! Glad you enjoyed "exploring" the photo too!

    Hugs, Pam

  12. What a fun photo! General Stores (or Merchantiles as they are called in our old area of California) always attract me! We stopped in one in Northern Michigan last summer and I could have spent hours just looking at all the cool stuff!!
