Poetic Thursday hosted by our pals Teddy and Angel Sammy
Here is today's inspiration
First a short poem
Splish Splash
I hope we don't crash
Those rocks look hard
OMCs the water looks
like shards of glass
Now for some fun facts about white water rafting in NC
My home sits smack in the middle of NC.
Just three hours West you can climb Hills
Three hours East you can stick your toes in the Sea.
If it is a thrill you seek,
head west to Bryson City.
A short trip to the top of the mountain,
will take you to NOC
Once you are ready to descend you have a choice: train or raft
If you are daft, you can ride a raft.
If you have a brain, you can ride a train.
We have done this several times; however,
this gal always rides the rail. No way she
wants to splish splash in the rapids or chance
falling out on her head.
*********************
Side note: the train tracks run parallel to the rapids
you can virtually experience the "fun" as you watch everyone
in the rafts.
If it is a thrill you seek,
head west to Bryson City.
A short trip to the top of the mountain,
will take you to NOC
Adventures galore await you there.
You will find so much to do your head will spin.Once you are ready to descend you have a choice: train or raft
If you are daft, you can ride a raft.
If you have a brain, you can ride a train.
We have done this several times; however,
this gal always rides the rail. No way she
wants to splish splash in the rapids or chance
falling out on her head.

We love your poem. Gail has been white water rafting just once, on the Colorado River upstream from Moab. She says it was an awesome experience but the water was COLD (it was early May).
ReplyDeletewe agree.. that looks not friendly.. we rather prefer land rafting LOL
ReplyDeleteI would be on that train, just looking at the photo gave me the shivers. your poem has me laughing out loud. that is exactly how I feel about rafting. I love trains and do have brains
ReplyDeleteI would take the train too!
ReplyDeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteExcellent 'double entry' poeming there, Miss C - and I'm with you! YAM xx
What a great poem and I would take the train too!
ReplyDeleteAnd to think, I thought the best thing about being smack dab in the middle of NC is Seaboard and Logan's! No rafting for me. I would love to go some place on a train. I have only been on an Amtrak train that went from Jefferson City, MO to Hermann, MO for a girls trip. It was interesting.
ReplyDeleteI would be riding the rails too, white water rafting is a bit too much adventure for me.
ReplyDeleteWe love your poem and never thought of the water looking like shards of glass, but they do! Our mom says she would always opt for the train back down instead of the rapids, too.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great poem...but we're with you...and would rather ride the train!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Beth, Ed and the girls
Hugs to Angel Madi ~ what a great poem ~ fun ~ Xo
ReplyDeleteWishing you good health, laughter and love in your days ~

Oh absolutely NO WAY on the rapids but riding the rails on a choo choo is MY SPEED FOR SURE!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
Great poems and interesting facts. XO
ReplyDeleteThat's a cute poem. I did the white water thing once, if was fun but once was enough!
ReplyDeleteBrilliant
ReplyDeleteThere are several reasons (thanks to you and Angel Madi ) that make me want to go there to Bryson City. Now here's another!
ReplyDeleteYou do live in the center of some great places to explore. We live about an hour from the Ocoee River rafting area, and I've done that several times. The last time, I ended up beneath the raft as we were about to dock, and my life flashed before my eyes. That was and will be the last time!
ReplyDeleteNope, not doing that. Don't even look fun to me.
