We thank our Hostess Sandee at Comedy Plus
Day One September 4, 2024
Our friends live about 2 1/2 hours west of Raleigh
We arrived at 11:30 am....this is the view from their sunroom
looking toward their pick your own Muscadine vineyard.
Sally had this lovely welcome tray in our room ...and oh did we feel the love
One year we visited closer to Halloween...
Skeleton hands sticking out of the bags of trick-R-treat.
After we stretched our legs and stowed out luggage,
we had a another treat in store,
Sander's Ridge Winery for lunch.
The owners are good friends of Sally and Gary's
Sally and I had the famous Sander's Ridge Chicken salad sandwiches on Croissant rolls
Gary and Bryan and Ham and cheese on Croissant. Tummies were satisfied. These grapes are closest to winery. I asked Gary if they were close to being ready for harvest. He said yes BUT THEY are not eating grapes. They are used to make very dry wine, kinda sour and would turn my mouth inside out.
They made for a beautiful photo though.
Saturday I posted where we went on our mini break. If you missed that post, here it is.
We are back from our annual trek to the lovely NC Mountains to
visit our friends Sally And Gary. There was lots of talking (I might need a vocal cord transplant), eating, trekking on a 2 new out of doors trails and there was some wine tasting too. We 4 made over 7,000 steps on Thursday 9/5.
FYI TEASE: One of our treks was on one of the many trails (with a waterfall) that belongs to a good friend of Sally and Gary. It was gorgeous and our guides were their friend and her dogs. I might have had a wee episode of puppy love with both of them.
Pictures later.
what a wonderful place... and we would love to get such a welcome....

Your friends live in a beautiful spot, and how kind of them to put together such a lovely welcome tray for you. We're sure the food was yummy and, of course, can't wait to meet pups!
ReplyDeleteToodle-oo and Cheers!
Nobby and Gail .
A great tradition you have with your friends. Their property is beautiful. A thoughtful thing to do with the welcome tray. Since you told me about that, I have done it for a couple that visit us. That is my kind of place to sit down and have a glass of wine with friends or family. I am happy you all had a good time!
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had another wonderful visit with Sally and Gary. I can't wait to hear more!!
ReplyDeletehugs,
Beth
What a heavenly place to unwind. Beautiful too. I wish I had gone with you. We would have had a grand time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Awww Mondays Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Awww Monday and week. Love and hugs. ♥
Sounds like a wonderful trip. How sweet of your friend to give you a welcome gift. XO
ReplyDeleteWe remember your visits to your friends from other years. What a nice welcome basket and a yummy lunch!!! The view in the first photo is gorgeous. When Mom was little, the lady next door, an old grumpy German lady, had grapevines. Some of the vines hung over the fence in Mom's yard and she loved to play with her dolls in the shade of the vines. The German lady was always yelling at her to stay away from her grapes. Mom could never understand how she thought Mom was going to dare to eat those grapes - they were all green and very hard. Eventually they did get used to make wine, but not that our Mom ever got to taste:)

I loved that memory!
DeletePee Ess - we love your header.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a terrific spot
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful place to have a "getaway"! Visiting friends, having such a pretty place to visit - perfect weather looks like too. YAY!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
What a loving time you had with your besties! And all that you got to see and do is just such fun. Glad you got to go and of course it was in an area I would love to visit. I will confess that a co-worker once brought some muscadine grapes to work for me to try. Ewwww.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a grand place!
ReplyDeleteWow, your friends actually made you a little basket of goodies for your arrival and visit. I've been in Air B&B's that did that, but never as a guest in a friend's home. The pups say you need to be sure to keep these good friends and maybe go more often. (They'll do anything for goodies!)
