Today's Nature from NC
NC's official State Frog
In 2013, NC designated the Pine Barrens Tree Frog a bright green but seldom seen species. It mainly lies in the pine forests of Coastal Plains and the Sandhills and is considered one of the most beautiful frogs in the Southeast.
Appearance description from Google.
The Pine Barrens treefrog is a small frog that has toepads to help it climb trees. This species can reach a length of up to 1.5 inches (3.8 centimeters) (Florida Natural Areas Inventory 2001). Pine Barrens treefrogs have a pea-colored body that changes to a dark olive-green color when they are under certain conditions of stress and weather (Means 1992). They also have a brown band that reaches from their nostrils to their legs, a white belly and yellow spots throughout the body (Florida Natural Areas Inventory 2001).

Here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for tomorrow. Ellen from
15andmeowing came up with the first two and my wonderful co-host, Lorianne of
Four-Legged Furballs came up with second two.
1. I can’t wait to have TURKEY and dressing (that is what we call stuffing here in Dixie) and Pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving.
2. Our Christmas tree goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving. We already have the lights on our Camellia by the sidewalk. We did that early because of rain and very chilly weather . All we have to do is plug them in to outlet.
3. I’d like to create and APP for stringing Christmas lights so that when you put up the last string you have the prong end for plugging into receptacle. Every so often we end up with the flat end and OMCs we have to do it again.
4. I prefer to shop EARLY when buying my weekly groceries.
Wow just WOW!
ReplyDeleteThat is amazing frog. We've never seen anything like it.
Happy Nature Friday!
Dearest Cecilia,

Angel Madie you certainly are showing off some fantastic photos from that year. A beautiful fall you had. I'm like your mommy, as a matter of fact in a few minutes It'll be 7:00 a.m. and I'm heading off to the grocery. In the dark and in the snow. But the snow is not bad so I'm not complaining. Love that green frog but then I love all things nature.
