The Raleigh Red Wolf Ramble exhibit began September 2001. The form for each wolf was made of fiberglass. NC artists enhanced them with paint and three dimensional add ons. Once the whimsical wolves were completed, The City Council approved the placement of 100 red wolves sculptures all around Raleigh for viewing. We had maps of where each was located. What fun it was to wonder about looking for them. On April 5, 2002 they were auctioned. They are now scattered all over the State. The red wolf was selected becasue it is an endangered species special to NC. At the time the newspaper coverage of the auction stated, 'of the 125 wolves in the wild, about 100 are in North Carolina'. This picture is of the handsome mosaic wolf purchased by the owners of Logan's Trading Company during the auction. I give him a gentle pet any time I visit Logan's to have lunch at Seaboard Cafe.
That is so pawesome! Mom says that next spring when she goes down to Wake Forest, to visit her dad, she's going to have to go check out the wolves! Thanx for giving her an itinerary of things to do for one of the days they're there! And, if you like "hunting" for stuff...you should really try Geocaching. It's the MOST addicting thing you will ever do. We go all the time (well, started back up this passed weekend, but have been doing it for a few years). You can check the website out...
