Tour of WRAL-TV Azalea Gardens

Raleigh residents know Spring is here when WRAL Azalea Gardens are in full bloom
displaying their brilliant colors. We dropped by on Saturday April 10th. I hope you
enjoy a few of the pictures.

Every garden needs gazing balls.

Below is an up close of a snowball bush. I've seen them all my life. My
hubby and I thought it must have a more scientific name.. the sign below it read
"Snowball Bush".
Thanks for letting us show you this beautiful garden.
Mom works about 2 blocks form the TV studio...sometimes in the spring and summer she'll take her lunch to the gardens to eat amongst all this beauty. In the hot, humid days of summer it is about 10 degrees cooler in the lush tree covered gardens.

  3. Wow, what a beautiful place. The azaleas are gorgeous and I can't believe the snowball bush is blooming already. Spring has really sprung in your area.

The gardens would definitely be my favorite place for lunch.

  4. Mom's getting the homesickness again with these pictures. She said every year when she was a girl in Oakluhhomeah, her grandmommy and granddaddy would take her and her sister to something called the "azalea festival" in a place called Muskogee. She says that azaleas always make her smile but we don't have any here cuz it's too dry.

  9. Our mama loves Azaleas......in fact, she made the background and header that is currently on our blog from pics she took in Ireland when the Azaleas were blooming. Unfortunately the only way we can grow them here is as pot plants.

Thank you for all your purrs and prayers during our Ma's illness....she is home now and doing well.....your support really helped us through a difficult time, Madi and Mom. xxxxxxxxxxxx

  16. Azaleas are our mom's favorite flowers, and she generally doesn't like most of them. She's tried planting them many times, unsuccessfully, and I think your post got her thinking again...

  18. The gardens are beautiful. Our Azaleas are very late this year. The buds are only just forming.

  19. I've been seeing your name in the comments on some of the blogs I've been visiting and thought I'd stop by. I love kitties and wish I still had mine. Sadly, he passed away a year and a half ago.

Those gardens are beautiful! I wish mine looked like that! But they probably take better care of theirs than I do.

  20. HI Madi!

Those pictures were great. The azaleas are so beautiful, we just wish that they lasted longer than they do...or at least rebloomed.
