Mom and I thank Hootin' Anni for hosting today's Thursday Theme Song.
Today's song, is Mom's absolute 100% Favorite (non-Carol) Christmas Song.
We were going to feature it later this month but LO and BEHOLD we had Snow in Dixie on
December 4, 2010. Which is nearly unheard of around our parts. We heard that this system
came to us from Minnesota...Thanks Remington for sending it!!!
This picture was taken from our front porch and we are thrilled to have it to go along with our song
Christmas in Dixie,
Written and sung by the boys from Alabama
Teddy Gentry, Randy Owen, Jeff Cook and Mark Herndon
By now in New York City
There's snow on the ground
And out in California
The sunshine is falling down,
And maybe down in Memphis, Graceland's all in lights
And in Atlanta, Georgia, there's peace on earth tonight
Christmas in Dixie, its snowing in the pines
Merry Christmas from Dixie to everyone tonight
It's windy in Chicago
The kids are out of school,
There's magic in Motown
The city's on the move.
In Jackson, Mississipppi to Charlotte, Caroline
And all across the NATION, it is a peaceful Christmas time,
Christmas in Dixie, its snowing in the pines.
Merry Christmas from Dixie to everyone tonight
And from Fort Payne, Alabama......Merry Christmas tonight
Now if you want to hear some beautiful music and vocals, please play this video to hear Alabama sing this like nobody else can!!!
If you could only see the houses that they bought with their singing...

My asst. heard about your snow. Crazy!!! Pretty picture!
ReplyDeleteWonderful to hear this song again, it really tugs at my Southern roots. Those boys from Fort Payne can really sing.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if they still do it but years ago Alabama would have a concert each year in Fort Payne, free of charge, basically a big party. They just wanted to give something back to the their home town.
So glad Remington getting snow to you - we received a double order by mistake.
ReplyDeletePretty song we have never heard it before.
Love
