Today's song, is dedicated to Madi and I hope she forgives me for leaving her 2 weekends in a row!! She has been home alone 5 nights since the middle of July (which is highly unusual). I promised not to leave her again until October. I hope you enjoy this John Denver classic...I (mom) am a big JD fan.
There's a storm across the valley, clouds are rollin' in
The afternoon is heavy on your shoulders
There's a truck on the four lane a mile or more away
The whinin' of his wheels just makes it colder
He is an hour away from ridin' on your prayers up in the sky
And ten days on the road are barely gone
There's a fire softly burning,
supper is on the stove (in the skillet)
But it is the light in your eyes that makes him warm
Hey it is good to be back home again
Somtimes this old farm feels like a long-lost friend
Yes 'n' hey, it's good to be back home again.
Mr. Denver wrote four more verses to this beautiful song so rather than write them here we invite you to click on the video below to hear him sing the verses and medley he wrote.

I love, love, LOVE John Denver's songs also. Just the other day I was singing [well, if you want to call it that---maybe 'catcalling'?] Anyway, Rocky Mountain High!! His songs are so 'close to home' for me in a way of being Colorado that is.
ReplyDeleteLove your EYES Ms. Madi!! And, what's for dinner?
Great song...fantastic photos to go with the lyrics. As always.

ReplyDeleteI see extra treats in your future Madi!
ReplyDeleteJohn Denver was such a welcome peaceful voice, after all the storm and angst of the music of the 60's. I'm glad you chose this song. It brought back many good memories. And, as for you, Madi, you just make sure that wandering Mom of yours stays put for a while.
ReplyDeleteMadi,

Love your post. The cloud pictures are awesome. I bet Ms. Madi was sure happy you are back home again. I know my little dog, Peanut, hates it when we are gone.
ReplyDeleteAs for John Denver, he was one of the Greats. I have always loved his songs. I have several of his albums and play them often, even though it drives my kids nuts. But he sure beats some of the stuff thay listen to.
Own sweetie! I love your post!
