I absolutely adore being brushed....and mom is purrty good at it too
This is my brush every night just before bedtime
I sashay into the family room....park my tush
in front of the table by the couch. Mom keeps my
brush in the drawer. She
rouses from her comfy seat to give me my nightly brushing.
Many of you will remember Angel Remington, the gentle Newfie, who addressed everyone as
'My friend'!
His mom, Beth, and my mom were buddies. Beth was an expert at spinning yard. In 2010 Beth asked mom to start saving my furs after she brushed me. Mom sent her a zip lock bag of my furs every few months. After about 9 months of steady brushing,
She added some of Remington's longer furs to my fur to make it spin better. Beth spun 70 yards of our furs to send to mom.
The blue arrows mark the rows of our spun furs.
Mom had enough to put one row of our furs in a mini
afghan she made for me and two rows of our furs in a
scarf she made for herself.
The afghan and scarf are very much treasured keepsakes.
Rem here's looking at the moon
My friend
B R U S H:
a brief encounter
We lost huge limbs out of 3 pine trees during the storm
on Wednesday night. All 3 tree are loop sided and will need to come down.
Thanks to Jakey Dory's Bro giving a lesson in Pizap....
I was able to go out into the snow....
This was mom's first attempt at adding me to different scenes.
I hope she takes me to the beach next time so I can go fishing.
The photo below is my snow scene with enhancements from my buddy
We both thought this looked like a scene from Dr. Zhivago
minus the 21st century conveniences.
How cool is that, that your human got to make a scarf and an afghan that included yarn made out of your fur! I bet lots of humans wish they had yarn from their cats.
ReplyDeleteI like gettin brushed too!
ReplyDeleteLOVIN' the crochet work!! Glad to hear your power is back on...that isn't fun!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you have the power back on. Have a super Saturday and stay warm and safe.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes Molly
Wow, that's pawtastic, a Madi scarf!!!!! So unique and as beautiful as you Madi.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you are safe after that storm passed by, you've got a lot of snow there, take car
Loves and licky kisses

I LOVE to be brushed.......I pop up on Mom's lap several times a day hoping to see THE BRUSH and Mom always comes through. Glad you had some fun with Pizap - it's my "method of choice" to jazz up stuff especially for Scouts!! I think it's totally fabulous that your furs are in those afghans.....that is MAGIC. My Mom can barely sew on a button so knitting/crocheting and embroidery are definitely OUT OF THE QUESTION around my place!!!!! Stay cozy.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sammy
Crikey ...... that was some storm you had. I'm glad you are safe. Stay warm, aye? It looks awful cold at your place. That afghan (isn't that a kind of dog?) and scarf with your furs is supa cool. No wonder they are treasured. My Mum's been learning pizap from Jakey too. She had some fun with it today.

ReplyDeleteOMC fur-yarn is the best of the best!!! But you need ALL YOUR FURS if you are going to keep going out in the snow Madi!!! Hugs and wags, YAM-aunty xxx
Oh goodness, that mini afgan is just terrific. How nice of Angel Remington's Mom to do that. Looking good in that snow Madi. You all have a super week end.
ReplyDeleteI like it to have an original Madi-Afghan or a scarf, that's a super idea... sadly my fur is like eyelashes, not sure if we could use it :o)
ReplyDeleteI just imagine Dr. Zhivago and Lara would really ride along in a sleigh... would they scream if the would see the modern cars and all that techie-stuff on the streets?
easy rider
I still miss Remington and mom Beth.. i had no idea hair could be spun, but i guess that makes sense since sheet fur is what they spin. this is really cool... you look great in the snow Madi, and i did not know we could cut out in pizap either. i only used it for frames and adding little stickers... so happy the limb did not brush the car.
ReplyDeleteThat's a whole new twist to spinning a yarn pretty Madi!
ReplyDeleteYou really have lots of snow at your place. Glad you are inside and have nice warm afghans to keep you warm.
ReplyDeleteHow cool to have your furs spun into yarn!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat snow looks too cold for us! We're glad you're enjoying the warm indoors!!
Hugs,
your guy Raz and The Florida Furkids

We like to be brushed too, but only when WE want it oand only for a certain amount of time.
ReplyDeleteWe loved Remington so much and were so sad to see him go. How lucky for you that you and your Mom have a forever treasure of him with you.
Happy weekend - we have snow right now!!!
Woos - Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
You just had a couple pine trees taken down last year and now you have to do more? That really is a lot of snow for you. Glad to hear the Highlander squeaked by unharmed.
ReplyDeletePoor Highlander! I have my scarf.. no Madi furs I don't think but I know it has Madi and Mom hugs.. :) We have snow coming down now and looking for 4 to 7 inches.. bah!
ReplyDeleteOh we love that with the fur you were able to crochet something very special of Madi and Remington. I can think of nothing more endearing. OH dear ... little Miss Gracie did nearly have a brush with a tree. WE are glad no one was hurt...well maybe the trees were. Hope things are better in the weather department.

ReplyDeleteWOW! COOL with the blanket and scarf with your fur ! I love being combed and I sheed a lot at the moment , so if my mom-person would be the crafting type she could make a whole blanket with just my furs :)
