Today we join Two SPOILED CAT
Angel Sammy and Teddy for their poetic pictorial poem.
Here is today's photo prompt
We thank Mom Pam for all the effort she puts into finding
these lovely photos for us.
Slide
Nuttin' brings on a big smile
more than a slide.
Some are short with bumper pad sides
That keep a wee one from landing on his/her nose.
These are usually multicolored and low.
Some are great big and tall connected to
ropes, forts, ladders and things in between.
Some lead you straight into a pool
where you can be totally cool.
When mom was a child, everyone put a sheet of waxed paper
under their hide to give them the ultimate slide.
Not matter the style the best way to ride one
is straddle together with a friend by your side.
I remember the butt-pads, they were fabulous... and they also protected bright pants ... sort of LOL
ReplyDeleteSome slides (I am thinking Duthie Park here) have been made from non-sliding material, designed by someone more pre-occupied with health and safety than with allowing kids to have fun...
ReplyDeleteLove the poems and the smiling kids photo that inspired it.
Cheers, Gail.
Pawsome poem!
ReplyDeleteGreat poem and picture! Mom remembers that waxed paper trick!
ReplyDeleteOh yes! Mom forgot about wax paper but it was fabulous especially on a slide that was a little "grubby"....it brought SLIDE BACK TO THE RIDE! Mom said slides were her favorite next to swings. Great memories.....and this is a WONDERFUL poem!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
good one Madi.. my brother used to slide down the hill on a square of vinyl linoleum .. off to tops today
ReplyDeletehahaha, I never thought about putting something under me on the slide. It might have made us zoom way out into the yard.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun poem. It brought back memories of our mom's childhood.
ReplyDeleteI think I'd like to try going down a slide! Our great brother Zim used to love going down them and I'm very adventurous like he was!

My ghostwriter remembers being a kid when there was a playground across the street with a big slide, swings, monkey bars, and a drinking fountain. If you fell and skinned your knee it was your own fault and you didn't go running to a lawyer because of it. Times sure have changed!
ReplyDeletePurrfect poem!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
your guy Raz and The Florida Furkids

What a fun poem! The mom doesn't remember using wax paper but she remembers getting slide burns.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful idea abouts the wax papers! We didn't have that at our house very much when we were wee ones, I wish we did, that sounds like funs!
