Nature and Feline Friday

I'm participating
Hosted by my Niece Rosy, Mayor Arty and Prof. Jakey and their Assistant Momma

We recently saw this beautiful steel sculpture on the lawn of
Diamonds Direct at Crabtree Valley Mall.  When the rain finally stopped last Friday
we went by for a photo shoot.

My husband is 5'11" so this will give you an idea of the size of the Rhinoceros Sculpture in memory of Sudan a northern white Rhino

I hope you all can read this plaque that stands by the sculpture of Sudan
it states that he was the last male northern white rhinoceros of his subspecies.....
I had no idea of the plight of this amazing creature out in his natural habitat.
Reading this left me with so many questions.  I do hope and pray the remaining 2 females
are pregnant and I'm thankful they are being guarded.
I would 100% rather see these beautiful animals out in Nature where they belong;
however, now it seems they need the protection of fenced in wildlife preserves
or large Zoological Parks.

As we were admiring it and reading one of the employees told us the owner of Diamonds
Direct is going to buy the sculpture.

Feline Friday

My friend, Janice, has been watching this most loving Mama cat
raise her kittens in her back yard.  Janice has no idea where they came from...
just magically appeared.

Cecilia - that first comment in today's post is a spammer - very sophisticated, but spammer nonetheless. Do not click the links (they are commercial) and the request is nonsense as only the commenter can select as she says and what is more, it applies only to single posts.

I advise going to your comments folder on the dashboard and selecting that comment then spamming it.

I am going to copy this into comments also as have already tried to send this and my computer seized!

Loved your post, BTW - adore the sculpture but distressed by the inspiration... YAM xx

  4. That cat has beautiful colouring. Not white, not grey, just somewhere in between!

Love the sculpture as well and at under 10,000 dollars it seems a steal!

  7. that sculpture is amazing and oh so beautiful. I did not know this info either.. it is sad us humans have to destroy everything in nature.. I saw on the news yesterday in Indonesia they found a dead whale. the necropsy found 17 pounds of plastic in its stomach. death by plastic bottles, we are killing our environment.

  9. What a shame there are only two females left. What a shame.

Oh the kitties. It's good to have a safe place to raise your kitties. So precious.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, Cecilia. Hugs. ♥

  10. It is very sad that there are only 2 females left and therefore on the verge of extinction.

  11. Our zoo breeds rhinos" White rhinos, black rhinos and Sumatran rhinos. So there is some hope. Of course, it is to dangerous to reintroduce them into their natural habitat, but there are people working hard to prevent extinction.

  12. What a beautiful sculpture...and the plight of the white rhino is such a sad one.

  13. I was listening to NPR and heard about the male white rhino. Great sculpture to remind us.

  14. Nice sculpture. Very cute kitties, I hope she can get them fixed and to forever homes. XO

  15. Gosh, that is sad about the rhinos! It's a beautiful sculpture, but so sad that aren't any males left and only two females. I agree with you that I would rather see them in the wild than in zoos. I actually read an article recently and it said each year thousands of species of animals and birds disappear. So sad to think about!

I sure hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! I am sure you missed Miss Madi. I still miss Pip on holidays!

  16. That is an amazing sculpture - thank you for sharing. Mom says she has heard of the sad plight of the rhino. Here's hoping those females are healthy and fertile.

  17. I love that sculpture but it is SO sad what has happened to so many species. I agree - I wish that they all could survive in nature but humans are not good neighbors.

    1. Except, of course, some people, like your friend who is enjoying letting those kitties live by her house.

  18. Happy belated Thanksgiving. That sculpture must be life sized! It is too bad that we (people) are killing off all of the animals, even here. But we are happy that more people are wanting to turn the tide.

  21. What a cool sculpture but such sad circumstances. Humans have got to work harder to save our wildlife.

  23. Sad about the rhinos.

I hope Janice is going to capture those cute bundles of joy and have them fixed so they won't continue to load up her yard with more cute kittens and cats.
