Nature and Furry Friday

Hosted by my Niece Rosy, and her 2 brudders Arty and Jakey HERE

Right out my front door

L: one of our Harry Girrad Azaleas just starting to bloom
R: the reddish plant is a Huechera (I just learned the name last weekend while browsing through Logan's Nursery).  It is also known as Coral Bell.
We have had this potted ivy and Huechera
for over a year.  Just when we thought the Huechera was about 'done'
it was moved from the back porch to the front.  It obviously loves
this location. Since the move it keeps sprouting new shoots

We have 3 dogwoods 2 beside the drive way
left top zooming in on their beauty
right top our neighbor's amazing Azaleas.  He does absolutely no yard work.  About once a month he will cut his weeds causing a dust storm. Obviously he has discovered the secret to Azaleas.
bottom left Dogwood with redbud peeping through.
bottom right close up of our new daffie with the orange throat.  This is it's last picture before it starts to fad

All these pretty blooms come with one disadvantage
Mother Nature dumps her yellow dandruff everywhere.

Our Pollen Mobiles
Everything outside is covered in the
evil yellow dust: porches, driveway,
and it comes in on our feet!!

Good news is on Monday night we had a gully washer...it rained sideways and  the
wind blew.  Got rid of a lot of pollen.
Rain water came rushing down the street the gutters looked like mini rivers, about 1.4" of rain
in just a few hours.

Below photo shows.  You see the area around our recycle bin  flooded.
Where the yellow thumb is pointing is where we roll our huge green house trash  can for pick up
It rained so hard the force of the rushing water pushed the full huge can about 25' down from there.

Furry
Kat might be little but he is mighty...has total control over his K9 sibs
All 4 of these beautiful furries are rescues....they are coexisting.
I think they all somehow realize they were formerly homeless now they are
in the lap of luxury

  4. wow that pollen time is no good onbe for the cars and for the peeps who have problems with that.... our azalea has not one bud this year... maybe it is a late bloomer ...literally LOL

  5. That is a lot of pollen! I am glad we don't get anything like that. The flowers are lovely. Our white azalea is in bloom and the red ones have lots of buds so shouldn't be too long now.
Kat is cute and it is good that he and the dogs all get on together.

  6. Beautiful signs of Spring - ours is very slow in coming but it's finally arriving. The pollen isn't in full swing here but we will have yellow "storms" of it soon I'm sure. Kat seems to be enjoying being LORD OF THE MANOR - good for him!

  7. Mom has never had luck with azaleas - never mind getting them to bloom - she can't even keep the plant alive! Wow - that was some storm!

  9. Awww, I love that my Angels are watching♥ Huechera is one of my favorite plants. You have a lovely yard full of happy blooms for spring. We are past pollen time... I am thrilled. I was so tired of cleaning that yellow pollen off of the lanai. I love that Kat and the pups all get along... very sweet! As long as the pups all know the Kat is the BOSS, of course! We could have used some of that rain.

  13. My Auntie Linda who lives in NC always complains about the yellow pollen time. We have one pine tree in our yard that puts out clouds of pollen too. Glad to see you have so many nice flowers. Oh, and say hello to Kat and company for us!

  14. We had lots of rain last night, too. Though you are way ahead of us in terms of color. Our tulips and daffodils are just starting to come up.

And lol, I have tried and failed to grow Coral Bells twice now! I don't know why but they always die.

  16. We have all that yellow dust around here too. Mom wishes she had some pretty azaleas too, but they have never done that well over our winters. But the trees are all blooming - such a pretty time of the year.

  23. Lots of folks are sneezing up a storm around here! The temps are all wonky: warm, then cold, then warm, then cold, with wind, rain, snow in the mix. But things are beginning to bud!

  24. Beautiful flowers. We had one of those pollen mobiles until the wind and heavy rain came. Now we have what we call squiggles all over the yard and car. They blew from the neighbors tree. We hope all the pollen is gone now and all of you are having a super day. Hugs and nose kisses
