A distant view of Downtown Raleigh from Boylan Street Bridge
Wye Hill, a Kitchen/cafe and brewery, sits on the left side of the above Bridge overlooking the train tracks.
Wye is a railroad term: a triangle of railroad track used for turning locomotive or trains
Ironically it is a plumbing term for a short pipe with a branch joining it at an acute angle*.
Buildings are growing out of the ground overnight...
too quickly in our opinion.

this looks nothing like I pictured Raleigh in my minds eye... I guess all the big cities are growing towers taller and taller and filling up with people and cars. Wye is a new word for me, never heard it before. I thought it was Y for the way the tracks look
ReplyDeleteI had to google Wye Hill Kitchen and Brewery and I think it looks like some great food could be had there! 15 bucks for a burger but I bet it's good.
ReplyDeleteCool photos of Raleigh. Of course, after reading Pix's comment, we had to google and look at the menu too. YUMMY!

I lived near Raleigh a long time ago. Love the pictures. Have a wonderful weekend.
ReplyDeleteSome peeps just don't agree with all of the building progress. What a yummy menu!
ReplyDeleteWe bet your hubby liked dining near the railroad tracks.

ReplyDeletegood to see your home town... I don't know anywhere of any size that isn't expanding exponentially - upward and outward. YAM xx
Raleigh looks about the same size as Rochester here in WNY. There are lots and lots of good places to eat there too.
ReplyDeleteI worry about the speed buildings are going up these days. Looks like an interesting city. Maybe some day I will get to visit.
ReplyDeleteThe café would be HER choice. SHE's not a fan of all the buildings. Makes all the cities just look the same. Hope they have reserved historical places.
ReplyDeleteBuildings are taking the habitats for the animals. And the birds. Its so sad really. BUT progress continues. XXXOOO
ReplyDeleteThe Dad hasn't been there for a long, long time and it sure has grown lots of buildings!
ReplyDeleteRaleigh is an awesome place. I never got there enough when I was in F'ville. Sometimes I think I should have moved there instead of coming back to Tallahassee.
ReplyDeleteTime marches on and it moves faster ALL THE TIME. Mom isn't happy about that either!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
Buildings go up in so many cities at such a rate that there is not much of the old left. It is a shame but I suppose that is progress.
ReplyDeleteI love your new header. Great photos too. XO
ReplyDeleteI love all the pictures and your heading. That looks like a yummy place to eat
ReplyDeleteI like the pictures.
