Nature, Feline and Fill-In Friday

Photos and commentary by my gal pal Janice and photo journalist

We opened our back door this morning and saw a possum walking behind the tree close to the fence.   It walked through small opening at the gate and went under the neighbor’s barn.  Then  he saw another one come from the tree and started walking in our yard - stopping and sniffing - think he was trying to figure where his buddy went.

We then saw one of our yard cats (someone has adopted this one because he has on a collar) peeking around the tree.

The cat decided he wanted more open space so he ran into our yard and decided to watch the rendezvous from there.

Both possums ended up under the neighbor’s barn and the cat went to the next gate to go into another neighbor’s yard.

Later we didn't see any creatures  so guess they are playing possum somewhere else. lol

Thank you Janice...stay by the phone I expect Nat Geo Wild will be calling you with a
offer you cannot refuse

And here are the Friendly Fill-Ins for today. Ellen  came up with the first two and my co-host  Lorianne of Four-Legged Furballs came up with the second two.
1. I can’t wait for  my hair Salon to reopen after the quarantine.(I haven't had a hair cut since February.
2. I am in no hurry for gasoline prices to soar after the quarantine.
3. These days, hopeful is my default mood.

4. Have I ever told you I LOVE all things RED?

  4. I was lucky, I had my hair done 3 days before lock down started so it is not due for nearly 2 weeks. I know I won't be able to have it done then but hope it doesn't grow too wild!
I have never seen possums and they are bigger than I thought.

  5. How fun to have nature in your yard. Those guys wouldn't last long with us in the yard. We need our groomer, and Mom needs her groomer. She had her hair trimmed in January, so it is getting really long now.

  6. We don't see any possums here. Kinda weird because they were a constant visitor to the Tiny Ten. I didn't think about gas prices for that Fill-In. Jerry is beyond ready for a hair cut, I can probably go a bit longer. Red is your color!

  8. We have possums come visit here too. The cats don't mind a bit and they are smart enough to fine the cat food. You all have a terrific day.

  9. One of those possums relatives was on our deck last night. We enjoyed your fill-in answers!

  10. we have not seen our possums since we got Big boy, not sure where they went, might be the 5 racoons told them to move on. I am smiling because our new normal has people watching possums and cats in their yards and sending photo to other people so they can show the possums to other people.... Possum Watching, the NEW normal....
Have I ever told you how happy I am that you have friends that send us photos? where is KAT and PUP

  11. Those little critters can be very mean. It's good they were just playing though. That's one smart kitty.

Love all your fill-ins. I didn't even thing about haircuts or gasoline. I had trouble with these fill-ins today.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Big hug. ♥

  12. Possums might not be the handsomest animal in town, but they are very important as they eat a lot of insects such as ticks! We all play important parts even if we aren't pretty! Cool photos!

  13. Oh, lucky you for having some possums around! They eats lots of yucky insects. Momma tells me if any show up, I'm not allowed to chase them.

  14. we have had our share of possums around too as you know
They were given a new zip code if they messed up and got into the live trap

    Happy weekend.

  15. Possums aren't the prettiest critters, but they do us all a lot of good, and should be treated with respect! The PO'M ignores possums and skunks, except when I'm in the yard, when he acts like my watchdog to alert me!

  16. Those possums are pretty bold! Mostly we see possums on the side of the road at night.

We can agree about the salons reopening! We all need hair cuts!

  17. BY golly I can't wait for MY hair salon to open either I emailed my stylist and she said May 5.
Possums are not pretty...their tails are more unattractive than I wish they were. Otherwise, not too bad. One scared one of my sons pretty badly. He was little, and thought the possum was a giant rat.

  18. I like Opossums...although one frightened me as a child. I wasn't expecting it in the shed and it only had one eye.

  19. Wow, Janice sure did a good job documenting the kitty-possum encounter!!!

I am also soooo ready for a haircut!!

  20. Possum-romance purrrhaps? A not so secret meeting observed by a passing cat....! I love them and we see possums around here often. They are ugly little things with their long rat-like tails but there's a bit of charm about them anyway.

    Hugs, Pam

  23. I have heard possums eat a lot of ticks. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. I had no idea that you like red. :) I need a hairdresser too, my bangs are so long. Have a nice weekend and stay healthy. XO

  24. That was a fun glimpse into your friends yard. Our mom will be happy when the hair salon opens again too but she would rather her hair grow out than catch the bug from the salon. She usually gets her hair cut every 4 weeks and it's now almost 6 weeks since her last cut. This is one draw back to keeping your hair short.

  25. One time Angel Thunder and Angel Ciara surprised Mom when she was taking them out of the garage to go for a walk. They both stuck their heads into the bottom of the tree next to the garage door and came out with a big possum in their mouths. Mom screamed "leave it", they both dropped it, and the silly dumb possum SLOWLY made his way across the driveway and into the neighbor's yard.

Mom says she is going to look like a zombie very soon without a haircut. Her thick curly hair gets to look very BIG when it doesn't get its regular timr:(

  26. That is an ugly looking creature. If I saw it outside I wouldn't give it the time of day.

  27. OMD, we got like tons of possums here! They troll around at night mostly, and Ma sees them on the security cameras. We gets raccoons too! And coyotes! and....wells, you gets the picture! BOL!! I was walkin' with Gpa a few weeks ago, and saw a coyote just prancing down the street at like 9:30 in the morning! Leggy one, and I barked and lunged and scared it away! yes I did! yeah, didn't want any of 'this'! BOL!!!
    Kisses,
    Ruby ♥
pees: Ma does her own furs, so the no salon thing isn't a problem for her ☺, butts I hopes you are able to gets your's trimmed soon! Ma says there's nothin' worse than fighting with your furs!

  28. I have a fondness for opossums. They are by most standards ugly creatures, and often mistreated, but they are actually sensitive creatures who play an important role in our ecosystem.
Anyhow, yes, on the gasoline. I expect the prices to start rising about the same time we start using it again!

  29. Great Fill Ins and better photos. Loved seeing those fellows. *Bread and Butter* was the old saying in passing

  30. There are certainly a lot of details like that to take into consideration. That is a great point to bring up. I offer the thoughts above as general inspiration but clearly there are questions like the one you bring up where the most important thing will be working in honest good faith. I don?t know if best practices have emerged around things like that, but I am sure that your job is clearly identified as a fair game. Both boys and girls feel the impact of just a moment’s pleasure, for the rest of their lives.
