I thank Da Phenny and Chef Shoko for
hosting.
About 3 or 4 days a week we have a fruit plate for
lunch. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries,
bananas, Naval oranges,walnuts and almonds
crackers spread with pimento cheese.
The plate in the back is mine I added raisins.
No cooking just slicing, peeling and cutting
And we wash this down with water kicked up a notch.
Evidently lots of folks don't like water...plain and simple...BUT it is important to stay hydrated during these lazy, hazy crazy hot days of summer
Food and beverages are also about eye appeal.
So get creative make your water eye catching.
Slice berries into old fashioned ice trays, add water and freeze.
I'm so glad I saved my ice trays too.
Here you have a tasty and pretty glass of ice water. I sometimes add a mint leaf too. Not really a recipe but it sure is a tasty cool treat.
Oh! Now I have a hankering for a plate of berries!
ReplyDeletethat is such a clever idea to make fruity ice cubes!!! and the mama would love to have just fruits for lunch... we wonder what our dad says hahahahaha
ReplyDeleteOooh, that looks VERY appealing.

ReplyDeleteMy kinda lunch!!! I bought in a heap of different summer fruits yesterday, so this will be very much on the menu (though cottage cheese instead...) YAM xx
So beautiful, yummy and refreshing! We only drink water here and those ice cubes make it so special. Your blog looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI do try to eat more fruit at the moment. And those plates look quite scrumptious!
ReplyDeleteKlem
That looks so good. Mom is bad about drinking water.

Yum and refreshing is always great!
ReplyDeleteI would enjoy that......but ya know who would not. And I'd have to slap some meat on his plate.
ReplyDeleteThat looks healthy and refreshing. XO
ReplyDeleteMomma does a similar plate sometimes, except she adds some lunchmeat and cheeses too. She says it's easy to snack from. *I* say that means it should be easy to feed me pieces, but we haven't gotten there yet!
ReplyDeleteMy kind of lunch and it looks divine. I like my water plain with nothing in it and Bob does too and we drink water 100% of the time except when we have pizza we drink a diet soda. The plate really is beautiful
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of fruit in ice cubes. And it makes it possible to "save" fruit that goes out of season. Brilliant. I shall try it! Thanks, friend. /Fay, cardis3, NewSpoo
ReplyDeleteThat looks very refreshing and yummy! We used to take fresh picked strawberries, slice them with a little sugar, and serve them on top of some cottage cheese. The berries have to be the local home grown kind and not the generic supermarket kind. Perfect in a hot summer day!
ReplyDeleteA wonderful breakfast, lunch or dinner. Yummy.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, my friend. Big hug. ♥
I love that ice cube trick. I just hit my head, thinking "why didn't I come up with this?" Brilliant.
ReplyDeleteThat does look yummy, though we don't much care for pimento cheese...MOL! Would have to find a yummy sub...and we are sure there are!! Lots of fresh fruit is good on hot days...and no cooking is a bonus!
ReplyDeleteWe squeeze fresh lemons or limes into our water. Sometimes if it is a bit too tart, we might add in some stevia.
Your plate of fruit and is that a bun?....looks yummy. Now the sliced fruit in the ice cube tray was pure genius!! I for one dislike the taste of water and avoid it....I do like carbonated lime water though. When our strawberries ripen some are going in ice cube trays.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the tips.

round de land oh trout we all R good waterz drinkerz....even de food gurl !
ReplyDeletesummer time lunch lookz grate.....we will bee ther bye dinnerz time :) ☺☺♥♥
Well done on the plate and with the beverage. So what time is lunch again?
ReplyDeleteI have similar for breakfast, in season sliced fruit and walnuts. I did have almonds but my bridge came out a month ago and the dentists aren't working yet. The almonds are just too hard to chew until it gets fixed. I can't smile either or I will frighten people!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like a great cool lunch on a hot day. Our mom prefers her water straight up and always asks at a restaurant to make sure they don't put a lemon in hers.
ReplyDeleteThat looks nice a refreshing! We have been having bananas, blueberries and raspberries on our waffles for breakfast
ReplyDeletehugs

Mom loves a lunch of fresh fruit or fresh veggies. YOur plates look super yummy to her. And the trick with the ice cubes is a fun one. Mom likes to use lemons, strawberries, or blueberries.

That looks very refreshing
ReplyDeleteOh, that sounds PAWSOME!!!! Ma still uses the 'old fashioned ice trays'! BOL! Yeah, she won't gets an ice maker in her fridge, cause she says they always cause troubles. ☺
ReplyDeleteAnyhu, Thanks for the food porn! BOL!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
Delicious idea and so healthy too......putting fruit in the ice trays is a brilliant way to add some color AND taste to "plain water" !!!!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
The fruit plate looks cool and refreshing! Pimento cheese and crackers are an afternoon treat for us while we watch the birds at the pond!
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas for a refreshing lunch and beverage on a hot summer day. Looks good enough to eat! I'll have to get busy making pimento cheese again!
ReplyDeleteThat looks wonderful. My granddaughters love a fruit late for lunch. I add peanut butter spread on Ritz with it. #GreatMinds
