Marbles

A game of the past
Requiring hand/eye coordination.
if you were to  last.

A circle was drawn in the sand
The object of the game was simple.

Thump all the others out of the circle.
Keeping yours inside the circle

Lots of practice and skill.
No matter if you were a Jack or a Jill,
The competition was for all.

 Today we join

I'm thankful to report I am now driving myself where ever I want to go!!  The surgeon said I could drive in a week; however, I tried backing down the driveway last week.  I felt a pinch so I decided no way was I getting on the public roads.

  3. Ahhhh yes - I was forbidden to drive after my hip replacement but just for a week which was easy enough to do. I let David be my chauffeur (which was fun). I see your "yard bun" is out front keeping an eye on things for you. Nice to have a resident rabbit! Well done on the poem - playing marbles was a lot of fun back in the day.....one of those things that I think you would be hard pressed to find any kid doing these days I'm afraid.

    Hugs, Pam

  4. Yay for being able to drive and the pinch is gone. I'm so happy to hear that! My brother played with marbles all the time he carried a bag with him everywhere he went and his pockets were always full of them

  15. Mom used to play marbles a lot with her big brother, but he won most of the time.

Tell Bryan no more pinching - tee hee.

  16. Collecting marbles is very popular here in my neck of the woods. People also hide fancy marbles for others to find!

Sooooooo happy you are driving again!

  18. What a great poem! It is purrfect! And you are one smart lady about the driving! And Sask (hes our local Sasquatch) always comes in the the deck door. Mom says he is quite the gentleman and he even vacuums up the fur he leaves on the rug! Right now is hunting season, so hes hiding out for a few weeks.
