I thank Carole and Katie Isabella for sending me this most amazing photo of a Pileated Woodpecker (Woody Woodpecker was a Pileated).
This was my reply:
Wow Carole do you know how very very very rare that sighting is? Double Wow. Thank you for the photo. WOW...I've only seen one in my life and it was from a far...DID I say WOW yet.
Thank you!!
I received permission to use the photo from Katie Isabella aka Da Boss Lady.
WOW thank you x 100!
Hugs and WOW Cecilia

What a great photo of such a distinguished looking bird. And I love the cats on the shelf!
ReplyDeleteCheers, Gail.
we love woodpeckers... and to hear their noise brings good luck ;o)

ReplyDeleteThat is a magnificent shot indeed...though should one be worried for the fence post?! YAM xx
That is a great photo of the woodpecker. We have three types in the UK, the green woodpecker, spotted woodpecker and lesser spotted woodpecker. The spotted woodpecker often feeds from our fat balls which annoys the much smaller sparrows and tits and they chase him off!
ReplyDeleteWhen Katie showed that photo on her blog we wrote that we are lucky enough to see piliated woodies fairly often in our back woods. They are HUGE....Mom and I like the little Downies best but those BIG GUYS are really something!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
Love the woodpecker! I've always wondered how they don't have a constant migraine with all of the pecking they do.
ReplyDeleteSweet peckers!! And I'm so jealous of Pam & Teddy having pileated woodpeckers...none here!!!
ReplyDeleteIt is exciting to get a glimpse of a pileated ... surprising it came so close to the house, even when tempted by the suet.
ReplyDeleteWe never see woodpeckers, but we do hear them occasionally. What a great photo. I guess the food was so good it didn't notice that a photo was being taken.
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA!!! Funny cats on the cartoon card! That is a great picture of Woody. We had a lot of Woody Woodpeckers on The Tiny Ten... we should have realized that it was a clue that our Oaks were dying and/or diseased. We enjoyed them... they were huge and gorgeous. Good Morning!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the woodpecker and I love the kitty comic, it's so true lol!
ReplyDeletegreat shot of the woodpecker, did not know that is what Woody is.. I love woody woodpecker.. I like the green grasses in the photo as much as the bird
ReplyDeleteWhat a lucky picture your friend caught. Pileated Woodpeckers are so shy it's amazing to see one so close to the house. We love that comic that was on the card. BOL!
ReplyDeleteWow on the woodpecker. I think I've seen on in my entire life and not this close. Wow indeed.
ReplyDeleteTwo fine looking kitties and I laughed out loud at the funny. That's so catlike.
Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

That is some fun Woody Woodpecker! Strange, I can see who commented but I can't see their comments.
ReplyDeleteWe have a pair of them residing on this property. But, have never been able to get a close up picture of them. We do see them frequently and also hear them more than see them.
ReplyDeleteI got a good giggle from the kitty cartoon today...LOL
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful woodpecker, I don't think I have ever seen a Pileate, though we did have one we heard in our California home!
The woodpecker photo is terrific! Love the cats on the bookshelf and the Cheshire Cat quote!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great shot. We have had them in the yard, but never on the suet feeder. XO
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate your professional approach. These are pieces of very useful information that will be of great use for me in future.

We have never seen a bird like tht.
ReplyDeleteIT was fun seeing him again! I had to take that photo with my iPhone THROUGH the window screen and glass. It's a wonder we got to see it at all. But ya takes what ya can gets! He was here yesterday too. It is the suet he loves. Did you know that when they peck wood, it is very slowly. Peck, a second or so later...peck...a second or so later, peck! Show and loud! It can be heard from a ways. No rapid machine gun pecking as with the small other varieties.
