Feline, Nature and Final Fiction Friday

UPDATE on MadSnapper aka Sandra, Bob and Beau.  I had short message she sent from her cell.

"No internet no phone no TV. Cell is so frustrating to type it was horrible
Our cars are trapped in garage  door blew in we had 70 mph  sustained wind, gust 100 mph
Most scared I have ever been in storm. Fence down part way,  part of avocado fell smaller one on roof, large missed our home.  To hard to type on cell, more  later,  garage door man comes on Friday."

Jiminy Cricket and the Sleeping Baby

For the first few months of her life, our daughter had her days and nights reversed.
No matter how I switched up her daily routine she slept thru all my efforts to keep her awake during the day.  This continued 'til until she was about three months old.  All of a sudden she was awake more during the day and was sleeping thru the night after her 10 pm snack.
One night around midnight, I was awakened by a steady chirp that was getting louder.  I quietly walked around trying to locate the noise.

I located the cricket in the hall linen closet hiding in a corner.  The linen closet was in a very small foyer between our bedroom and our sleeping daughter's bedroom.  There was no way I was going to get near it.
(I DO NOT LIKE BUGS...especially ones that are fast and jump.~~~

My plan was to put something oh top of the cricket to muffle the sound.  I got a glass from the kitchen, slowly opened the linen closet door and OMC(rickets) Jiminy escaped his hiding place almost jumping on me.
Now I am on all fours crawling after the cricket each time I tried to confine him he jumped.  All of a sudden I heard a snicker from behind.  My husband had been watching me.  He said I put on quite a show too.
He did catch Jiminy and thankfully our daughter's peaceful sleep was not disturbed.

PS this blog was all crazy this morning hopefully I have corrected it. Might have been Jiminy haunting me.

  1. Thanks for the update from Sandra. I'm so relived that she's been in touch. Storm Ian must have been absolutely terrifying.
It's windy here in Aberdeen this morning, but thankfully nothing more than the norm for Scotland at this time of year. At least we don't have noisy crickets here!
    Cheers! Gail.

  2. we send hugs and positive thoughts to sandra, bob and beau... and to all friends who have to stand the bad Ian...

  3. Thank you for the update. Sandra and her Beau & Bob have been in my thoughts and on my mind. It's a relief to know lives were spared.
    Now, you be safe...

  4. Hari OM
Oh thank you, Cecilia - I have had Beau and Sandra and Bob on my mind and am relieved you have at least this much contact with them. I am sure you will send them our very best wishes and hopes for speedy recovery from the frenzy. Today, the Hutch looks out on washing machine conditions and so dark I need the light on to work. I wonder if it is an echo effect from Ian on this side of the big pond?

I love crickets and their chirping. Sadly, I cannot quite read the end of this episode of yours, as the formatting has taken a strange turn... but I got most of it and I trust there was a happy ending! YAM xx

  5. heeheehe - my ducks would have caught it for you, but the baby would be awake after they helped.

  6. We are so happy to hear that Sandra, Bob and Beau's damage wasn't far worse. The pictures that we see on TV are just horrifying and so very sad. I'm with you, Cecilia. I'm not a bug lover either - especially inside the house.

  7. They are lucky they still have a house, so some trees down and garage door blown in is not much compared to many.

  8. Thank you for the update on Sandra. How awful. I can't imagine a storm like that.

Love your cricket story. You made me laugh and it's always good to see Angel Madi.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend. Big hugs, my friend. ♥

  9. Loved every word of the blog and you and Jiminey have me smiling big right now BTW, my first child did the same exact thing!!! Slept all day no matter what and hollered all night!

  10. We're so glad you heard from Sandra and it's great to hear they are all okay despite the condition of their home. Our paws are crossed that everything gets fixed quickly for them.

What a sweet photo memory of Miss Madi. That's a funny story about the cricket. We're glad to hear your husband saved the day by catching that jumping thing for you.

  11. Have heard from almost all of my friends in the storm "zone" and while just about everyone has damage of one sort or another (or no power) thankfully everyone is OK and they're dealing with difficulties so well.....we are going to get rain and wind but in our area of Virginia it won't be as bad as it will be in Southwestern Virginia. Everyone STAY SAFE! Love the cricket story - I would have been giggling behind you too (tee hee) !!!

    Hugs, Pam

  12. Sooooooo glad you heard from Sandra. I also have been worried and am so glad to hear she's safe!!
Thanks for the Angel Madi visit and the Jiminy Cricket giggles!

  13. Glad your friends in the storm stayed safe. Beautiful shot of Angel Madi. That was a funny story. :) XO

  14. We are sure glad Beau and his family are okay. That's some Jiminy story, it made us smile too!

Please leave a meow or bark for Angel Madi...her assistant (aka Mom) will respond in a timely fashion. =^..^=
