This Rabbit's foot fern was living its best life in our friend's Sunroom.
It was a gift and just a 'regular' fern when she received it...then it
started growing fuzzy roots much like rabbit feet.
Hares Foot Fern, also referred to as Rabbits Foot Fern (Davallia Fejeensis), is an evergreen perennial fern. It is indigenous to Fiji and a member of the Davalliaceae family. A resilient fern that can live both inside and outside is the rabbit feet fern.
The Rabbit’s foot ferns are named for their delightful furry rhizomes that creep over the top of the plant pot. The growing conditions required are similar to most other ferns including managing moisture levels well. Functional as well as decorative, the rhizomes absorb moisture and nutrients as they crawl across the moist soil.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful plants you shared today! YAM xx
What a fun fern and a most interesting cactus. Both quite unfamiliar to residents of Scotland!
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law, when she was alive, was queen of house plants and she had a rabbit's foot fern! Love the cactus!
ReplyDeleteNeat fern. I don't get along with cactus. LOL... luv the 9 lies of cats.
ReplyDeleteI enlarged to see the fern's fuzzy feet, very cool! I don't think ferns would last in my house, too dry for too long during the 5 - 6 months of winter. The cactus is so interesting too. It looks like it could be some living creature found on an ocean floor. As for the cartoon, OMC, I love it! And it's all true, too! :-D
ReplyDeleteLove the rabbit fern even though the fuzzy roots look like hairy spider legs,,, not a bad thing! The Ladyfinger Cactus is awesome. After Pepperoni, the Peperomia, I won't be adding any plants. I am sadly a killer of plants. The cat cartoon is giggle worthy for sure!
ReplyDeletenine lies! brahahahaha i have never seen either of these plants, i have tryed to grow other cactus and they always die. but then so do the non cactus I try. I like the fern best
