Welcome to the 21st Century

Madi here today with the help of a hired 'hand'!! Shhhh don't tell Mom.
For those of you who don't know, Mom and Dad are 'older than dirt', which means they go kicking and screaming into each century. Lo and behold, they finally stepped into the 21st century thanks to my Sis (sometimes she is pretty smart and definitely has a few secrets on the care and feeding of the peeps).
I turned my head in disbelief when Mom opened this box.
Now that I have your attention let me tell you about this giant step they took.
They

are you ready

ordered
a
GPS

Introducing my new sibling Gretel aka 755T Garmin Nuvi
Mom decided to call her Gretel because she is very good a leaving just the right size bread crumbs leading them to their destination.
Gasp I know every one on the planet has one except Mom and Dad.

I, for one, am thrilled about this purchase.

My biggest fear is that one day they will leave the house never to find their way home.
(REMINDER: older than dirt...thus the memory is fading too)!!

WHO WOULD FEED ME?
Thankfully this will never, ever happen because Gretel has a 'go home button' with our address built in. Whoopee!!!
Thanks again Sis for a human who claims to be THE reigning Diva (NOT) of the house
you are pretty smart.
Madi and her tummy signing out.
Remember don't tell Mom about this secret post.

  1. My humans don't have one either. They sure could use one, I think. But I don't worry about their getting seriously lost. One good thing about Long Island is that as long as you don't leave it - and you can't really do that by accident - If you keep on going you'll hit water one way or another. Actually, it's somewhat of a production leaving Long Island even on purpose, involving large tolls a bridge or tunnel and lots of sitting in traffic before you can make an escape to the mainland. Also, maybe mine are even older than yours because one time recently Blog Mom borrowed one. She had to go find Alpha Mom in the next county in a town she didn't know at all. Once she got to the part of the trip where she actually needed directions, she couldn't make out what the GPS was trying to say. She says everyone is starting to mumble all the time and electronic devices are no exception.

    lotsa licks, Lola

  2. Hi Madi,

Don't worry, I won't tell your mom about this post. It will be our little secret.

My mom & dad don't have one for the car either but mom's phone has one. It talks to her and tell her which way to go. It was really funny when she first got the phone and got directions in the house. Humans can be really weird.

  4. Madi, you don't have to worry, the "go home" button works great on our Garmin.

I love "Gretel" because of the bread crumbs! LOL

  5. Madi,
My Mom and Dad have had a GPS for years, mostly because Mom is "directionally challenged" and she does worry about leaving me and my brothers and sisters home alone.

  6. We have a TomTom GPS. Works great except when you go underground in some tunnel. Surprise...........you're on your own to get out of there. Found that out in Chicago's catacombs.
    Technology ain't it grand.

  8. WOWZERS! That is so cool! And here I thought you got an RV! But this is good too. Mike and Beth don't have one -- they have me! I do worry about Mike....he may need one....what if he gets lost on his way home from work? Or worse yet -- what if he can't find where he works? I don't worry about Beth because she NEVER leaves without me....I am happy for you, Madi....just one less thing to worry your pretty little head over....

  9. You know this has relieved your mind greatly, dear sweet Madi.

Our mama is older than dirt also, but at least we don't have to worry about her wandering off and getting lost......she NEVER goes anywhere...thankfully!!!!

    We love ya, Madi. xxxxxxxxx

  11. Madi, you are such a brilliant kitty. And so thoughtful and caring of your human ones. After all, I know that you are just concerned for their consciences... they would feel TERRIBLE if you went a moment too long without your kibbles now wouldn't they? Remind them often (and EARLY!) that you need to be fed to avoid this pain for your human loved ones.

That is so neat that they old folks got a GPS! My human doesn't have one of those. Of course, there are only a few roads where we live so I don't think it's a problem. :o) She might get lost in the bush one day though... hmmm... I might have to present this to the finance department.

  12. Hi Madi!

    Guess what?
My older than dirt pawrents don't have one of those things and they don't even own a smart phone, have never texted and Daddy can barely use a computer.

Momma said to tell you that last week they went to their neighborhood association meeting and the police officer was talking about stuff being stolen out of cars, esp GPS systems. He said never leave it showing in your car when you park it. Also someone said if you have it hooked up to the windshield it leaves two suction cup marks and thieves know you have one even if it' showing.Stuff Momma would never have thought of.

  13. Our Mommy loves hers and uses it all the time when traveling for work (she's a city girl, not so good with country roads she sometimes encounters)...We're glad Gretel gives you some peace of mind, Madi; now when Mom and Dad leave the house, you know they'll always find their way home to you, sweetie!...kisses and hugs...Calle, Halle, Sukki

  14. Oh Madi...my people just got one of those things too...but it is still sitting on the counter cause they still don't know how to use it!!! M.O.M. is having a hard time accepting the fact that she is getting older. While watching a HGTV show with that Romstedt kid she heard the crew talking about a mid century house they would be working on. When they showed a photo of it M.O.M. laughed until she realized that to these kids the 1950's are mid century!!! Slow down world she yelled!!! We just gotta take care of these old people don't we!! Hugs and wags, Mistaya

  15. Whew! Thank dogness they got one of those! Like you said, what if they gots lost one day and were 5 minutes late with your dinner or something? Now THAT would be Most Tragic.

My mom and dad just got one of those two. But my Auntie K had to gives it to them cuz they wouldn't buy it themselves. But they LUVS it. Ours is named Samantha.

  16. Our mum and dad have got one because it came pre-fitted in the car. Mum gets mad with it because she is a good map reader and says it goes miles around to get from A to B. She turns it off and tells dad all the shorcuts on the map.

  17. Madi we are so glad your mom and dad got Gretel so that there is no chance of them getting lost and not getting home to feed you! Our mom and dad don't have one specifically but there is one in their phones so we know that they can't get lost either!

  18. Madi, you are just too funny! Older than dirt....NOT!!!
Gretel looks like a good thing to have. I have one too that talks to me from the sky. Very strange, but fun!

  22. Madi, our mom and dad-guy don't have one of those either but mom wants to buy one for our dad-guy. He's always traveling around for his job and he will call mom at work and ask her to mapquest or google directions to someplace he's trying to find. Mom figures he could really use one of those...and he'll stop bugging her...
