Thursday Theme Song: The Happy Wander

Mom and I thank Hootin Anni for hosting

I love to go a wandering
Along the mountain track
And as I go, I love to sing
My knapsack on my back

Chorus

I love to wander by the stream
That dances in the sun

So joyously it calls to me
"Come join my happy song!

I wave my hat to all I meet
And they wave back to me
And the blackbirds Hawks call so loud and sweet shrill
From ev'ry green wood tree

High overhead, the skylarks wing,
they never rest at home
But just like me, they love to sing
As o'er the world we roam.
Oh may I go a-wandering
Until the day I die
O, may I always laugh and sing
Beneath God's clear blue sky and glorious fall colors

Now we invite you to listen to both versions both under

NOW FOR THE BEST KEPT SECRET IN
BLOGVILLE.....ARE YOU READY
MY MOM TOOK ACCORDION LESSONS FOR TWO
YEARS WHEN SHE WAS A WEE LASS.
She wishes she had continued but alas she lost interest*.
Her one claim to fame was picking out the notes and "Lady of Spain" totally by ear.  (Probably because*)when she played it for her teacher he got very upset...probably because she had not practiced the week's lessons. MOL
Mom isn't very good at following the rules

  7. What a happy song!
Our mama says you have brought back memories with this song. It was a favorite when she was directing summers camps long ago.

That's a pretty good secret Madi. Our mama had the same problem with her piano teacher.

  8. After meeting your Mom, I would guess the accordion was just to big for her to handle! Did she have to prop it on a table? Hehe, sorry but she is so little!

  9. Oh now you two have gone and done it!!! I will be [honestly] humming this song all day. I just know it!!!

And the photos well, you know this already: They're purrrrfect.
But, wouldn't that be way too big for a 'wee' gal...too big to handle?

[now that reminds me of a story ---when out dining with my brother and sil - Bud and I took them to a fancy restaurant, and upon grabbing for the pepper grinder on the table [wooden and large...cylindrical], my sister in law said...are you ready for this? She said "I've never handled anything this big!" Needless to say, my mind in the gutter as always, I burst out laughing....disturbed the 'nose in the air' patrons at the next table to be sure....but we HAD a fun night with that comment!!] Okay, now that was sharing with you MY secret. LOLOLOL

    1. Mom said she should have mentioned that children have smaller accordions. Hers was about 18" long. As you grew you graduated into a larger one finally one the size pictured above.

  19. Oh, how I loved Myron...funny, I learned the accordion too when I was young - and the first song I learned was Lady of Spain! I wish I still had that one - it was a princess-sized accordion that belonged to my uncle. I loved it...a few years ago I bought another one, but it was the 120 button bass and it was just too heavy and difficult for me! So...anyway, this was a great song for today - brought back tons of memories!

  20. Madi you have a beautiful voice!
Have you ever thought of trying out for one of those talent shows?
I bet you would win..and you could have your Mom play the accordion!

    :)

  21. Too funny, the accordion lessons. I failed bagpipe lessons. I wonder if everyone has a deep, dark, musical secret hidden like a skeleton in the closet.

  27. Wonderful photo accompaniment to the song Madi! That is so cool that your Mom played the accordion. My Mom's always been fascinated with that instrument. And you and I would get along just grand. I'm not much of a rule follower myself. Rules were made to be bent, stretched and occasionally Broken! ;)

    Waggin at ya,
