Happy Tuesday Tale day
If you missed part one, click here
When we last spoke about this, my plan was to visit Super Walmart.
On Wednesday March 12, a former co worker and I made plans to meet at Panera's in Brier Creek Shopping for lunch. I love it when a plan comes together too.
Super Walmart is just a hop, skip and a jump across a very large parking lot.
A fine time was had by moi at Super Walmart
Obviously I don't get out much. I do go to the Walmart near me on a regular basis; however, a
Super Walmart is like an amusement park. Honestly, they need to issue maps when you enter the store. There was so much to see and so little time. I will be going back
I found lots of good deals on fabric and Peet's Major Dickason's Coffee. We have an serious addiction to it. It is 7.38 a bag at Walmart...11.99 at the grocery store.
First thing I always do is wash my fabric before I start to sew... Done
Then I rolled my craft table into the office
I really love this table saves wear and tear on my back. I have it for YEARS.
Pic 1: The table waist high, folds up for easy storage.
Pic 2: lift up one leaf for smaller crafts or
Pic 3: lift up both leafs for larger work space.
Back to my shirt tale
I found 2 bolts of fabric for $3.97 a yard I needed 1 1/8 yard= 4.85
Total fabric $9.70.
No one will be surprised to see that I bought red fabric.
Here a picture of the blouse I'm making.
The sleeves will be red with small polka dots
The body of the blouse will be red with a small print.
Blouse has been cut out.
I'm having to do a bit of a refresher course on my sewing machine. Straight Stitches
are good but need to be able to do a few extra stitches for gathering and such.
Pressure food and needle plate had to be changed....Ahhhhha moment
YEP when all else fails READ THE INSTRUCTION book.
and I had to select the correct stitch #6, (there are 23) before I could do any gathering
I'm up to speed now

It is a simple pattern. Barring no unforeseen events
I hope to show you the completed blouse on my next Tuesday Shirt Tale or at least
report progress on the retraining.

ReplyDeleteIndustrious... I am sure it is going to be lovely! YAM xx
we bet the shirt will be an art piece... and we wish we had a walmart here too... but maybe european people have not the right sense of humour to get a wally world...
ReplyDeleteWe can't wait to see your blouse finished. It is going to be cute! Love that craft table!
ReplyDeleteWow, That is going to be a great shirt. Good for you to be so industrious. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteI didn't think I could get this interested and excited over a blouse/shirt BUT cause it's you and you explained what you are doing and how, well I am excited for next Tuesday Shirt Tale! I had to giggle a bit over your experience with the Super Walmart! We have a Super Walmart through the magic gate just a five minute walk for me. We walk over there almost every day for something we need. Your daffies in your header are looking very happy!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the finished shirt! I am sure it will look lovely.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to be a beautiful shirt. Yea!
ReplyDeletep.s.: I looked at those coffee's and there are a lot of different ones......which one do y'all like.
ReplyDeletethat style blouse is one I would wear I did not know you sew. wow! how did I not know that. that table is amazing. it would be good for extra dining also. I have 2 walls it could sit on and if my kids were still around, would get one. no need for it now. waiting to see the finished blouse
ReplyDeleteI have totally lost what mind I have. I know you sew and I knew you were looking for a blouse like this and also going to WM to look because the other fabric was to much.... I spaced out and while answereing thought I was on Ginny's blog, the one I had just come from..... OMD OMC dementia is setting in... I even thought wow, Ginny got the same type blouse pattern as Ceceila… oh well.....
DeleteYou have us on pins and needles (pun intended) waiting for the reveal of the new blouse. That sure was a bargain on the fabric.
ReplyDeletetesting
ReplyDeleteHow fun. My mother loved to sew and she was very good. Looked like store bought when she was done. I think I told you how terrible I was. Oh well.
ReplyDeleteHave a fabulous day, Cecilia. Big hug. ♥
At that sewing look nice but we can't do anything like that here...we would lay on the fabric though!
ReplyDeleteWe love your craft table. Can't wait to see when the shirt is finished. Red is going to look really nice. Super Walmarts we agree are just so huge, we love shopping there. Thanks for the share. Have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteWorld of Animals
Looking forward to seeing the completed blouse.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful color! Can't wait to see the finished product!!
ReplyDeleteI wish I were there to learn watching you. The most I ever did was make an apron and a skirt and that was in 9th grade. When I had the first child, I made toddler all in one's and didn't do too badly. I was all pumped and decided to make a blouse. I am alarmed to tell you that I cut two left sides and when I discovered that, and saw the silly idea of turning it over and using it that way would NOT work, nope...not gonna do it...I finally pinned and cut another. It was a left side again! I did that THREE total times. I gave up...pitched the rest of the fabric and the attempt. Put away the machine and never looked back. pee ess. Had the worse time getting the bobbin thread up and where it needed to be.
ReplyDeleteMom will shop at Super Walmart or Super Target for a lot of things that can be stocked up on, like toilet paper, soaps, detergent, cleaning products, toiletries, etc. because their prices can be very reasonable. She usually does a huge order when she does so she doesn't have to go too often. We bet that blouse is going to be beautiful!!!
ReplyDeleteWoos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber
Man oh man, I haven't seen tissue paper patterns in so many years!
ReplyDelete...and with all the changes going on with google-google plus-blogger-word press is bound to give someone trouble! It's a given.
ReplyDeleteThe last time I sewed with my machine was a Christmas Quilt. I swore that was it. You're braver than I...and of course you'd pick something red!
I can't wait to see the finished product. I am impressed with your skills as I can only do a straight stitch.XO
ReplyDeleteEven with all the evils of Walmart (including how hard it is to find anything) - one can't deny that their prices are very economical. I can't wait to see the finished shirt!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your sewing! The WM near me is actually a smaller store, thankfully. I rarely get to the full sized ones anymore.
ReplyDeleteGood luck making the pawsome shirt
ReplyDeleteWe are excited to see the finished blouse! Mom got a new sewing machine a while back and she can finally thread the needle without looking at the directions
ReplyDeletehugs

I wish we had a super wallymart around here! okays, maybe there's one on the other side of town, butts it takes like 45 minutes to get there, and it's not the best area if you knows what I mean. Though, the way Ma would buys stuffs, I thinks it's a good thing after all! BOL!!! Anyhu, the shirt is lookin' FABulous! And Ma SO wants your table!
ReplyDeleteKisses,
Ruby ♥
Sounds like it was better than Disney World! I can't wait to see your finished blouse - it will be comfy and bright and I bet it will be your favorite in no time. As for the Wordpress "thing" - I hope you DID get it fixed. Had to be frustrating.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Pam
I can't wait to see the final product! I think i have mentioned that I can't sew for beans, but I do agree with you about Panera and Super Walmart. I get excited to go to both!
ReplyDeleteWe are glad to hear you got all you needed at really good prices. The material is pretty and the blouse is going to look very nice...will be looking forward to seeing it when it is finished. Hugs
ReplyDeleteMy ghostwriter was remembering the days when she would go to Joann Fabrics and get sewing supplies. But her sewing machine is long gone now. Good luck on your project!
ReplyDeleteThe stitch length is what gets me messed up with sewing. I keep my instruction book with my machine. Hahaha!
ReplyDeleteI had to laugh at your joy of going to Super Walmart. And so glad to hear you got your "follow" fixed!
