Nature and Feline Friday

While on a recent trip around town, we drove by a different section of Crabtree Creek.   My eyes were scanning the creek for photo opts.  All of a sudden, I saw a huge wing span on a branch.  Luckily no traffic behind us so were were able to pull over.  First photo out of the camera. Notice a tiny gray dot in the center of the photo about 3/4's of the way down.... No you don't see it scroll down to the next photo that I cropped.

Of course by the time I was out of the car ready to snap he tucked in his wings and drew his very long neck in I guess to hide.

It is a Great Blue Heron arrows pointing toward it.  Wing span amazing

Friends be prepared to giggle uncontrollably

Mom was spying on us and caught this funny interaction.

Mom has never had 2 indoor cats, so she’s like a kid in a candy shop; so happy! 😹
Turn on sound, please....and get ready to giggle

❤️ Kat & Rocky

Dearest Nephews,
Great timing with action and words.
Give Mom a present...oh wait your PRESENCE is her Present right?

  1. a heron is always worth a stop... we wait till our heron is back at the lake, but by now no sign of this guy...maybe he is in nc now?

  2. Birds can be so disobliging when it comes to having their photo taken. Perhaps I could offer lessons in posing?
    Toodle pip!

  3. We have herons who fly down onto our neighbour's carp lake. They are very well fed even though he put a fence all around to stop them wading in. I think they have learned to land on the very small island that the wild duck sleep on at night.
It is nice to see the boys having a wrassle.

  4. It's been a while since mom and dad saw one of them guys. They used to see them all the time on Greenfield Lake in Wilmington. Oh, and so you know- the noisy nights are due to me and my restlessness. I just don't seem settled here, and I make all kinds of yowling noises between 1:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. All I want is company, and if I don't get in bed with them and one of them comes out to the living room, I settle right in with them and fall asleep. Not sure what's going on.

  5. Good eye spotting the heron. Neat looking creek.
Rocky and Kat, you two guys are such pretty boys.

  6. Hari OM
Well spotted that woman!!! What a lovely find. And the video is a delight. YAM xx

  7. I wasn't expecting a GBH! I didn't see it in the first picture but definitely in the next. Great that Kat and Rocky are enjoying being together!

  8. Nice you could stop to see the heron. They are nice birds.

  9. Cool that you spotted the heron! We love seeing Kat and Rocky together.

    The Florida Furkids

  10. The herons are such beautiful birds!

  11. That is quite the find in your neck of the woods I think. I haven't seen a blue one in a long time but I see white ones. Rocky and Cat make me smile so big it hurts my face every time I see them together. To me it's a miracle that they love each other like they do and it's a good thing they have a mama who can teach them to get along and knew exactly what to do

  12. Oh we have many of those at our marina and all over the delta. They are most fun to watch fish for their dinner.

I love the video. That was timed perfectly.

Thank you for joining the Feline Friday Blog Hop.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday and weekend, honey. Big hugs. ♥

  13. That is some big bird and such a fun video of those special boys!

  14. We love seeing Great Blue Herons in flight too. That wingspan sure is impressive. How sweet that those two kitties are getting along so well. We enjoyed their video.

  15. WE have Great Blue Herons here also- it's very hard to capture them with their wings spread out! What a lovely day you had and thanks for the cute kitty video!

  16. What a beautiful Heron! Great Blue's are my most big and so majestic!!

    Thanks for the giggles boys!!!

  17. Love seeing that heron!!! Mom says that video of Kat and Rocky playing looks a lot like M and T playing here:)

Woos - Lightning, Misty, and Timber

  18. Great photos. And adorable video. XO

  19. Those herons are really big! We haven't seen them quite yet here in WNY. But another big bird has been migrating through these parts: the turkey vulture. We've seen lots and lots of Canada geese flying over too. I remember a time when seeing any kind of large bird was almost miraculous!

  20. I can't seem to catch a photo of the heron in the river behind the house either! Your shot is so much better one than I have been able to capture. They are amazing when they fly! They always make me think of Pterodactyls! Thanks for stopping by and visiting and have a marvellously Happy Day!

  21. Oh Herons are FABulous burdies! They are sooooo big! We have them around here somewheres, butts I've never seen one in the, feathers.
Oh, looooved the video! You guys are like two peas in a pod! Um...two hissing peas in a pod...BOL!!
    Ruby ♥

  22. Mom and all her sons are fans of herons. I love that you saw him and stopped to take his portrait!

  23. My son used to see those blue herons on the lake and say they were pteradactils.
Loved to see Kat and Rocky play!
