Brian's Home host of Thankful Thursday
Over Mother's Day weekend I received a very sweet box of goodness from my thoughtful, kind, loving, Daughter who knows me very well. One dozen assorted cookies from Carolina Cookie Company in a beautiful tin with birds on it.
I am thankful every day for her love.
Soda Fountain
If you ordered a banana split
or a cherry smash, it was sure to be good
Life was good, you were Cool
Sitting at the counter
turning and spinning on the stool
til you were nearly a drunk fool.
Those were the days
Soda fountains never really made it to the UK. Our loss?
ReplyDeleteThe tin of cookies looks enticing. Nobby wonders if any of the contents were dog friendly...?
those were the days... we had only the simple things in our stores, but we remember the best moments with sitting there, having a milk shake, with this feeling inside to be a criminal because we skipped school LOL
ReplyDeleteWe had coffee bars rather than soda fountains. They still had those spinning stools though!
ReplyDeleteSweet gift from your girl. She knows what momma likes.
ReplyDeleteA soda fountain...a cherry coke, teen friends and Bobbie socks!
ReplyDeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteVery often it is the tin, that pleases - being a constant reminder long after the contents are consumed!!! YAM xx
no cherry smash for me, I always got a chocolate coke... YUM I can taste it now. also loved the one dollar banana splits that would not cost 13 bucks a piece. spinning stools were the icing on the coke
ReplyDeleteThis makes me think of Nantucket as they have a soda counter in the drug store!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies sure look delish! Your poem is perfect for that picture. You could really get quite dizzy on those seats.

ReplyDeleteI remember the Woolworth's Five and Dime as a kid and I worked in the soda fountain at Thrifty's Drug store way back in the day. Fond memories.

those were the days...oh yes. And how young we were.
ReplyDeleteOne of my fond memories is my favorite aunt taking me to a soda fountain where I twirled on the stool and drank a big milkshake in a heavy, glass glass.
