On a midafternoon walk
I turned down this street to see two
hawks standing on the curb
(I used a fake hawk on the left)
One flew up into a tree. The
other stood on the curb
trying to decide if he wanted me for a snack.
Then off he went to join his buddy
The entire event was less about 30 seconds
I hardly had time to get my phone out.
They are both in this tree inside the white circle

Poetry Thursday
We are using the alphabet letters as poetry inspiration
Today's post is brought to you by the letter

ALMOST
Tis the time of year when we hear
ho ho hos from far and near.
The child in all of us is filled
with glee, and hope that St. Nicholas and Rudolf
have a clear landings on roofs, or hay bales in fields.
Just ten days and counting oh me oh my
Yes it is ALMOST here so girls, boys,
dads, moms and of course pups and kits
Whatever you do be good or your stockings
will be filled with coal and twigs and possibly figs. (Blah)
we love the hawks... how cool that they come so close... we remember the letter poetry, boy that was fun!!! ...the letter b... bink bants LOL
ReplyDeleteWe also see a lot of hawks around here......they're pretty but a little scary. We love your poem - hopefully no figs in our stockings here either!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
You did a fabulous job catching that hawk on camera.
ReplyDeleteAnd thank goodness he decided he didn't want you for a snack!
Toodle-oo!
Nobby (and Gail).
Well, we're sure glad you didn't end up being the hawk's snack, my friend. Yesterday mom and dad were hiking along High Rocks Vista trail at Ralph Stover Park nearby where there were at least a half dozen turkey vultures gliding on a stiff breeze over the river and perched and watching eagerly, it seemed, in the bare branches of trees hanging high over steep cliffs.
ReplyDeleteI loved seeing the Hawks. Thanks. I keep a large tub of water out year round, even though it takes a hammer to break it open every day anymore. It's for the deer to drink out of but also we have Hawks that come and take a bath.
ReplyDeleteWe see hawks around here. One was on the deck railing one day. Mom used to worry about them when Bert was outside, but I don't think a hawk would have had a chance getting him with Bert's hunting skills.

ReplyDeleteOh I say, well captured Miss C!!! YAM xx
We have all size hawks around here. Good capture.

ReplyDeleteI know the whole thing about everyBODY has to eat but I don't like seeing hawks in the yard.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I have ever had a fig.
Good Morning!!!
How amazing to see the hawks!
ReplyDeleteI recently tried dried figs and was rather "meh" on them.
Those hawks aren't favorites here, they hunt the feral cats just for the fun of it. That was a great poem!
ReplyDeleteThe hawks were probably going after some small critter on the ground like a squirrel or mouse. How cool that you were able to catch them with your camera. We love the flash back poem too.
ReplyDeleteAwesome hawk photos and delightful poetry ~
ReplyDeleteHugs to you and Angel Madi, Xos
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

I'm not a fan of hawks as I was attacked once but not viciously. I was minding my own business but apparently, I was too close to the proximity of her nest. Love your poem and I love figs!
ReplyDeletewow, 2 at one time, i know you were excited. we have seen that a couple of times at bray park, but not since 2020.. no idea why. good job on the fake hawk and the day was gorgeous, loving the sun shining on the houses. so beautiful. Almost by Angel Madi, what could be better?
ReplyDeleteWow C..those are great hawk captures!!
ReplyDeleteGreat Flashback poem too!
hugs,
Beth
I LOVE all Raptors and Hawks are a total fave in the family! GREAT capture and how lucky you happened by!!
ReplyDeleteWe've been seeing a lot of hawks lately too. As long as they don't try to grab me!
ReplyDeleteWe get a lot of hawks here too. The problem is they take all the smaller birds though. I wish they would stick to mice etc.
ReplyDeleteI remember those Christmas stockings. They always had figs, an orange and chocolate money in them. Why figs for goodness sake!!!!
We'll take any figs you don't want! Yummy! We had a whole flock of hawks circling over the woods behind our house this afternoon. Maybe they're why we're not seeing the little birds anymore...
ReplyDeleteHawks are great at protectng the neighborhood
ReplyDeleteCute poem. I love seeing Angel Madi. XO
ReplyDeleteWe sometimes see a hawk here, but not often.
ReplyDeleteAngel Madi, that's a great poem. Thank you for joining Feline Friday!
