Thank you to our
Auntie HiC
Last week Mom was asked to go to school (where she taught) for Read Across America/Dr. Seuss celebration. She read to a great group of kindergarteners.
She read one of her favorite books,
Somebody and The Three Blairs, which is a cute “twist” to the classic, Goldilocks and The Three Bears. Mom was surprised (saddened) that some children were not familiar with Goldilocks, soooo, she & the kiddos who knew the fairytale retold it for the others! Always best to get the kiddos involved/interactive before you ask them to settle down & be quiet. 😉
She wished she could show you the kiddos (you have to have parental permisson to show them)...many were dressed up in Dr. Seuss outfits.
The kiddos were great, & Mom loved every minute of her visit. She was truly in her element, especially, considering she was visiting in her
own old classroom!
Oh yeah, another way to calm kiddos is to bribe them with sugar infused treats, that can’t be opened until late afternoon, right before dismissal. 😹😹😹😹
Mom told you after her visit: She loved it, but was ready to leave when her time was over!😹😹

I was smiling all the way thru this beautiful post.
I loved seeing Mom in her 'element the classroom'.
Mom told me that she actually taught several of the parents of the children in the classroom. The children who had
MS. Kit for Kindergarten still see her around town and I think she told me one of the is her hair stylist!!!
Thank you very very much for sharing this beautiful post!!!
This post made me smile too. What a beautiful teacher she is.

Dear Kat and Rocky, I am so happy to MEET your Mom. You have a beautiful Mom and this is a very interesting post today. I am happy to hear they still read books to kids in school. it is shocking no one new the story, but I bet they know a lot we do not. I was born about the time Goldilocks was, ha ha.. great post today
ReplyDeleteThis is made me smile too, such a lovely post. It was a fun day! And what a great idea, to let the kids eat sugary treats just before they go home. Ha! 😆
ReplyDeleteA wonderful post this morning, and don't we love to see children listening and learning how to read. I still remember from 60 some years ago getting my Little Golden Books to read.
ReplyDeleteThat looks like fun! "She loved it, but was ready to leave when her time was over!" Hahaha.

That is so cool. I offered to read to my great niece's Kindergarten class, but they weren't doing anything for Dr. Seuss day. XO

ReplyDeleteI enjoyed every word and picture and thanks to her for doing that wonderful thing for the kids. That was the best fun today! xox
Story time is always a special time. How nice she volunteers to do that. I used to get involved like that at my daughters school when she was young. Nice memories.
ReplyDeleteI bet the students really enjoyed your mom's visit, Kat and Rocky! What fun for everyone!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun time!
ReplyDeleteThat was awfully nice of your mom. I am sure the kids loved her.
ReplyDeleteI think it takes a special person to interact with kindergarten kids. "Mom" still "has it!"
