I shared this on Wordless Wednesday September 18th
Taken 6:50 am September 18 at the exact location as the sunrise above. Fog after 3 days or relentless rain
Taken from my driveway...within a few hours there was sunshine on my shoulders.
As the saying goes, red skies in the morning sailors take warning.
On Friday Sept 13 it started raining for days and days. We had close to 6" here.
Parts of the NC southern coast had what they called a 1000 year rain event over 22" in 12 hours.
My #1 daughter and #1 son in law and my grandkitties live about 1 hour north from the southern coast.
They received 19.2" in 72 hours. This photo was taken from their 2nd floor looking out to their back yard.
This ditch separates them from a farm behind them it looks like a canal.
The ditch is about 5' deep and probably 6' + across.
it is several 100' from their home.
we had that fog too... it always reminds me of john carpenters movie and the awful adventure with it... good that I have two dogs for walking around LOL
ReplyDeleteThere was fog around here as well? Universal fog, who knew!!
ReplyDeleteThat is way too much rain...and now with Helene looming, there might be more!! Get the ark ready!
What a contrast between the two pictures. That sure was a lot of rain. Glad to hear your daughter didn't have any damage.
ReplyDeleteWay too much rain and thank goodness they didn't have any damage!
ReplyDeletewe had fog also, Beau and I took a walk in it one morning. it burned off quickly with the hot sun. that is a ton of water and I am so glad they had no damage. we are watching Helene coming our way and she is coming with a lot of water and we have already had way more than our share over the past 5 weeks. the people who flooded TWICE are now waking for the 3rd time... I read one article that said Florida just get used to it and move to higher ground, the glazier is melting and FL will be getting more and more flooding. I like seeing both photos one sun one not
ReplyDeleteThis time of the year morning sunrises are so pretty! The weather is really weird these days. Flooding was an issue for months and then the rain stopped and now we are on the verge of a drought again. Hopefully cold and snow will come this winter or we may move to Antarctica.

ReplyDeleteNature's a bit all or nothing, ain't she?! YAM xx
Way too much rain in one spot at one time. It's a wonder there was not any damage. We manage to eke out a little more than a half inch yesterday. Back to drought.
ReplyDeleteThat is too much rain. I know for a fact what a 5" will do. Glad they didn't have any thing bad caused by that water.
ReplyDeleteI love a soft, foggy morning, always have. I can't imagine that much rain in so short a time. I'm amazed your family didn't have any damage, they were lucky!
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a few days make! I am glad your daughter and SIL didn't get flooded. We have had torrential rain further up country too, but it hasn't reached us.
ReplyDeleteDearest Cecilia,
ReplyDeleteWe have not seen foggy days here and usually the sun comes out right after it clears.
The top photo is incredible.
Are those ditch dimensions the normal ones or only after the heavy rain?
Hugs,
Mariette + Kitties
cee…hoping helene by passes your state…🙀🙀🐟‼️
ReplyDeleteWe love the misty morning look as much as the beautiful sunrise. That sure was a lot of water your daughter and SIL got. We hope the coming hurricane doesn't go in their (or your) direction.
ReplyDeleteLovely nature photos ~ awesome sunrise ~ ^_^
ReplyDeleteHugs to you Cecilia and Angel Madi ~
Wishing you good health, laughter and love in your days,

The sky in that first one is so amazing. I'm sure glad your daughter and her family are okay, that's way too much rain.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies. Hubby loves walking in the fog. It's ever so quiet when it's foggy.
ReplyDeleteThank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.
Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. Love and hugs, my friend. ♥
What beautiful views.... both the sunrise and the fog!
ReplyDeleteWe are hoping Helena gets bored and goes out to sea! Staying away from all our friends!
hugs,
Beth and the Girls
Oh dear that IS a lot of rain. And now with Helene on the horizon, we hope it won't add too much more. Stay safe.

Glad they didn't have any damage. XO
ReplyDeleteI am in spam again :)
ReplyDeleteI hope they don't get hit again
ReplyDeletetwo truly lovely pictures! I should try that idea myself in the future. That was incredible rainfall. Here we have had drought which hardly ever occurs. But some rain came yesterday and a bit today. Your State has had a rough time. Thank goodness you are aright.
ReplyDeleteWowzers! And there's more coming, at least up I75 where we live. We're waiting and watching and trying to decide if we're going to the funeral in Portland, TN this weekend, cause it's predicted to be the epicenter of the cyclone.
