Symmetry Saturday

This home is about 3 miles from us.  We watched them build it and many more on a two lane road...now fast forward about 8 year.  The city has decided to add a lane to this road taking several feet away from all the front yards.  These home owners made lemonade out of some very sour lemons.
Skeletons are dressed in construction vests and hard hats.  They have shovels construction signs.

Won't be too sour, if the experience of some pals of mine in Sydney is anything to go by... They got compensation from council for disturbance, the meter wide, eighteen metres long strip was bought and paid by the road constructor... And the value of their property went up! YAM xx

  2. That is disappointing for them to have part of their land taken. I hope they are well compensated for their loss. Adding an extra lane may make the road busier too.

  4. I don't think I would be too happy about them taking several feet off my front yard. Good for the homeowners and their light hearted approach to the situation.

  5. I would not be happy about that, but that is me.

  6. Homeowners probably can't be very happy about losing some of their front yard. But at least they're putting up some fun decorations. Maybe the construction workers will get a giggle out of this.

  7. Dearest Cecilia,
That sounds like an awful thing and the noise level will be the biggest negative factor, aside from ending up with a smaller front yard!

  8. they do this in Florida all the time, we have so much traffic, they add the lane. the homeowner gets nothing. just move closer to the traffic. since they added the lane here, it must already have a lot of traffic. both sides of our street has 8 feet easement that belongs to the city/county. we mow it and care for it but its not hours. same thing behind us, utility easements.
