Dearest Auntie HiC
Dad & I were taking our regularly scheduled early afternoon nap, when I heard Mom.

I gave her the “stink eye”, she quickly retreated, and napping resumed. 😹

Lovingly your calico Niece

❤️ Cali

Dearest Cali the nerve of mom to interrupt your special time with your Dad.  Yay you for the purrfect stink eye.

NATURE Friday

Extra special Nature Friday from a friend via email she said:

"bad pic of a gen-u-wine Red Headed Woodpecker!  I wanted to give you first crack at it if you want it."

I replied OMCs yes indeedy I would love to use this on Nature Friday.  It has been eons since I saw a gen-u-wine Red Headed woodpecker.  The little jewel is smack in the middle of the photo on a limb.

Thank you my dear and thoughtful friends C&KI

  1. Oh my goodness look at all that pollen! We have flowering dogwood here but I've never seen them do pollen like that.

  2. Pollen is the bane of my life too...here it comes from the maple, oak and walnut trees. Every once in a while we get to see a redheaded woodpecker and we see a bit more of the huge pileated woodpeckers. I'm awaiting the hummers and the indigo buntings, and the rosebreasted grosbeaks, and maybe even a towhee ot two, We have a lot of bluebirds, so there are mealworms out for them, but they refuse to go in the special feeder (starling proof), that they are in...so they are noshing on the woodpecker's peanuts, LOL!

  3. ohh let sleeping cats lie right? we love the woodpeckers... we hear them but we can not see one... invisible maybe?

Well done to Cali for setting boundaries; the woodpecker shot is fun and definitely worth having; and ugh to the pollen. YAM xx

  5. I think yours is more than ours this year, probably the drought here, we still have to much and I am sneezing my head off and my eyes run tears a lot

  6. oops forgot to say I LOVE THE SLEEPING DUO... makes me smile as does the stink eye. I have so many photos of bob sleeping with one, 2 and 3 dogs on him, but no cats

  7. Cute photo of two snoozers. That stink eye soon got the mom to leave, but not before she got her photos. I am so glad we don't get pollen like that!
We have a woodpecker that visits every day, but he prefers our fence to the trees, oh and of course the nuts and fat balls.

  8. Cali, how is it every cat knows when the camera is out, mol. And here, I have missed my redheads all winter long. They spent the late summer and early fall here with their black headed babies, but as soon as it turned colder they took off to who knows where? I still have dozens of migrating goldfinch and keep feeding the lot at great expense, lol. And the squirrels keep eating what they glean from the ground.

  9. Mom and Bailie saw two red headed woodpeckers at Gramma's house two weeks ago. She has never seen even one there. They are beautiful. She got a photo but only had her phone and it is a bit blurry since they are constantly moving/pecking. Happy Friday!

  11. Aw, Cali's lap time with her dad was so sweet. 😻

Ah, pollen season. At the rate we're going here, it might be June for us this year. 🙄😆

  12. What a treat that would be to spot that woodpecker in your yard. Such beautiful colors. Holy smokes that's a lot pollen on those cars.

  13. That is quite a heavy dusting of pollen! I can't figure out if we have already had it and now moving on to catkins and white floofy whatevers hanging on all our screens. It's been strange. Red-headed Woodpeckers are the jewel of the woodpeckers IMHO. We don't see them here in Southwest Florida but it doesn't mean they aren't here. So many birds we don't see. Cali and her Dad are sweet.

  16. Cali is so sweet napping with her dad. We have lots of woodpeckers in our yard, but we've never had a red-headed one. Good luck getting through your rough pollen season.

  20. Mom could snap that same photo of our Dad many times a day, but we would be at his feet. We are too big for his lap:). Beautiful woodpecker, but they do make a lot of noise around here.

Happy weekend - we hope it is pollen-free.

  24. I wish your Cat Dad many happy returns of the day! I do not consider taking time out to celebrate him to be a fail at all, but a necessity. He deserves some consideration for all his hard work, right?

Authors probably have to do some unglamorous things but it would be nice to shadow one for a few days.

It seems you've found another excellent series, Amber and I thank you for linking up with Feline Friday!
