Nature and Feline Friday

 Nature Friday host LLB Gang

Mom Beth and the Girls made a beautiful new
Nature Friday Badge honoring the Memory of our friend Gail

Seen on a recent EMW outside
Finally the worst of the pollen has gone I can take walks in the great out of doors
before the HOT HAZY HUMID days arrive

This portion of the Crabtree Creek, it meanders behind Crabtree Vally Mall
We jokingly call it 'mighty' but it really is very important.
The Crabtree Creek Watershed Project (CCWP) was built under the authority of the Watershed Protection and Flood Prevention Act of 1954. The CCWP consists of approximately 90,750 total acres located in Wake and Durham counties and contains 10 flood control structures, which include engineered components, flood pool and flood easements. They were assembled on behalf of the federal government for the purpose of preventing loss of life and managing sediment, erosion and property damage caused by flooding within the Crabtree Creek Watershed.

Lovely new area recently added to the front yard of a home not far from us

Lavender Azaleas Rhododendron about 2 blocks from home.

Ah, Miss C, the 'laveder azalea' is actually a rhododendron. Same family, much bigger cousin! I really like them, but here in Scotland, they are considered an invasive species and there is a concerted effort to remove them from all but the most established and proper gardens. They have a habit of self-propogating into native woodland at the expense of native shrubs... bet you weren't expecting that comment today!!! 🤭 YAM xx

    1. YAM thank you very much...for the info. Now that I look more closely the leaves are very different.

  3. The creek looks lovely. The flowers are all pretty, and the hanging bloomers made me laugh too. Angel Madi looks beautiful too.

  5. Hanging Bloomers instead of fluffy bloomers, lol. What a beautiful place to go to and how wonderful that the state or the counties have provided this for you. Needless to say the azaleas are just fantastic and I'm grateful to say they are blooming here too now. We love your new header with garden gnomes and that sweet angel, the perfect combo. Happy Friday

  6. The watershed project is beautiful and so are the azaleas and rhododendron! Hanging bloomers did make me laugh. Hanging bloomers should be undies drying on a clothesline☺

  7. I would love some hanging bloomers but at my house they quickly turn into hanging dead stuff.

  11. Watershed projects are very interesting in Florida just as they are in North Carolina. Just as there are everywhere. Crabtree Creek is not only lifesaving but beautiful. So nice to see your green happening there... all the lovely leafed out trees. The yard is beautiful too. "Hanging Bloomers" did indeed tickle my funny bone! Madi had a great sense of funny!

  13. Angel Madi, look at your beautiful self!
My mom has the entire front of the house in lavender azaleas. After 20 some years they all developed a fungi and died. I will always miss them. Love them hangin' bloomers!

  19. My grandma had a rhododendron at the corner of her screened in side porch. By the time I had to sell the house after everyone had passed, the bush had pretty much taken over that whole corner of the yard!
Love the double entendre on the hanging bloomers!
