While on vacation, I became acquainted with a new variety of Dogwood
This is a Kousa Dogwood photo taken in Abingdon, Virginia
Cornus kousa is a small deciduous tree 8–12 m tall, in the flowering plant family Cornaceae. Common names include kousa, kousa dogwood, Chinese dogwood, Korean dogwood, and Japanese dogwood. Synonyms are Benthamia kousa and Cynoxylon kousa. It is a plant native to East Asia including Korea, China and Japan
Of course the red spikey fruit/berries on it caught my eye..

A tree for all seasons, the Kousa dogwood has berries that resemble raspberry fruit in autumn, and the peeling bark on the mature tree trunks has an attractive mottled appearance. The fall leaf color is reddish-purple to scarlet and lasts three to five weeks.

I THOUGHT I HAD A GOOD HIDING PLACE BUT MOM FOUND ME.
Angel Madi's favorite Sissy and brother-in-law are visiting
this weekend. Their room is upstairs near our office.
I will be checking in with everyone after they are up, showered and dressed.

ReplyDeleteI have a Kousa tree and it is not all that old but it bloomed it's best ever this summer and is loaded with fruit. With this drought I have to water it every day and I am hoping the deer will eat the fruit later on. I hope the play was a fun one in Abingdon. I am jealous of you being there. It has been so many years since I have, ever since sweet Precious moved in. I would not give up a minute at home with her though. Enjoy company. XX

We have a Kousa dogwood in our front yard. Our berries are just starting to ripen. The squirrels, chipmunks, deer and birds all love the berries. That's such a cute and fun memory of Madi. Enjoy your visitors.
