Scenic Saturday on vacation

We logged lots of 'tushie' miles on our vacation.
First we drove from our home to our friend's home, 131 miles one way.
We spent the night with them on September 8.  On Sept 9th we  all hopped in their car to drive to Abingdon, VA which is ~150 miles one way from their home. This was our first view of the mountains.

Next week I'll tell you why we went to Abingdon, VA
Total miles driven  260 to/from our home to our friend's
Total miles from their home to/from Abingdon, 300.

FYI the men were driving and navigating
The women were talking...surprise surprise??

  2. We noticed right away that the guys were up front and we knew the girls were chatting away and having fun in the back☺ The mountains are gorgeous and we can't wait to hear more!

  3. The first view was lovely. But, stereotypically, weren't the women supposed to navigate? 😁

  4. Did you stop in Abingdon to see the train engine that they have there? We used to drive from Northern Ohio to Mount Rogers every year for 13 years. We did it in May so we could watch the migrating warblers. And ride our bicycles on what was the Virginia Creeper Trail before the floods last year.

  9. That's a lot of driving, but at least you got to enjoy the view and some conversation.
