ReplyDeleteOh, How I loved that little message about getting old. We need to hang up a big one of those in every common area where I work. Some caretakers are way too serious, or just 'doing their job'...I always try to make those I am caring for on any particular day laugh or giggle! When that happens the day goes so much better. And its always fun to try to get these peeps to talk about what they love, etc. I have to often tell fellow workers that, yes, dementia sucks, but these people are NOT stupid. Talk to them as adults, show respect and find out whatever you can about their lives before they came to live with us. It gives a whole new angle to the work we do.

ReplyDeleteDear Rocky, this is true for us Kitties also. I know I'm older than you but I feel as young as you. We age on the outside but we never age in our mind. So I'll be your girlfriend for a lot more years if you'll have me. Precious
