 Feline and Final Feature Friday

Dear Auntie HiC,

You may recall a few months ago I jumped to the top shelf in Mom’s closet!
I was incredibly grateful for her assistance, and I was curious to know if you all believed I had learned my lesson.
I revisited the comments, and to my surprise, the majority of you were confident that I would repeat a similar action.  You are smart cookies! 😹

During our February ice storm, & subsequent days long power outage, Dad hooked us up to the portable generator. He had to move the refrigerator away from the wall to get the cords positioned properly.

Wellllll, the fridge was pushed close enough for me to jump from top of fridge to the tippy top of the 4 door cupboard!

I had no idea what I would discover upthere! 🙀🙀🙀

Mom collects local pottery & she had placed two “face jugs” on the top of the cupboard. Face jugs were believed to ward off evil spirits & to scare kids from getting into the contents. (Medicine, or even moonshine).
If you’re interested, you can learn more about the face jugs here

Those ugly faces definitely turned me into a Scaredy Cat!
I started howling & of course Mom came running! She didn’t see me at first because I was up so high! She let out a big laugh, but I found nothing funny about my predicament!

OMCs Cali Auntie HiC as a huge fan of the Fab 4...she loves this song.

  3. You really do like high places. You must work on getting yourself down for those days when mom might not be around to help...lol Those face jugs are pretty interesting.

  4. Cali, one kitty to another, I would say you will do this again one day. Just make sure when you do that mommy or daddy are still at home so they can get you down. And hopefully they won't have to call the fire department to bring in the hook and ladder. Then took a drive into our little City yesterday and saw a pink magnolia tree trying to bloom. However tonight it's going to be 22 degrees now that our storm has passed and we figure the poor tree will be brown come Saturday morning.

  5. The magnolia tree is very pretty! As for the cat, cat bro Bert would get up high like that but Mom never helped him get down. He was a nuisance and if he could get up there, he could figure out how to get down and he would eventually figure it out.

  6. That was high up, Cali, and what a scary surprise when you got there.
Magnolias are beautiful. We have a small one which was covered in developing buds in December, then repeated storms right through to February blew (ripped) them all off, and we ended up with one solitary flower. We congratulated it for making it to that stage, then the next day we had gale force winds which blew all the petals off that one poor solitary flower!

  8. I have a curiosity bump the size of the empire state building, and that might just mean Beaus Mama is part cat. I don't do heights though and that looks really high. I bet you made a lot of noise... the magnolia is gorgeous..

  9. Cali, those faces would scare me too! I've seen them on British Antiques Road Show, though, always interesting to learn about them!

We have Japanese Magnolias here too, but it's going to be May before we see any blossoms this year!!

  10. EEEKK...Oh Cali, we would hope seeing those scary jugs on that high shelf would stop you from jumping up there again...but we know you are a fearless kitty and will probably be up there again. BOL

What beautiful Japanese MAgnolias, Aunty C, we used to see those on walks this time of year in Northy North California.

  17. Oh, my, that was quite an adventure, I’d be afraid of those faces, too.

The tulip trees here bud in January, they are magnificent while they last.

  18. Cali, it's good to never go somewhere that you can't come back from. Maybe those evil chasing faces taught you that, BOL! (and we liked the song, too) XOX Xena, Lucy and Chia

  21. Had to smile at your repeat adventure, and that cute video with the perfect song (loved that too). The magnolia tree is beautiful! A lovely sign of the warmer weather (which I am saying, "Where are you????" You teased us and then you were gone :) Thank you for the smiles. Hugs, Denise
