MondayMEWS:: Container gardening cont'd from Friday

Mom ladies' afternoon out on Friday was held at Fairview Gardens and Greenhouse.  The hosts were ladies from BB&T (Branch Banking and Trust) my peeps bank.

Italian Ice, cookies, lemonade, tea and water were the refreshments for the hot day and were served first.  It was Mom's first time having Italian Ice...

SHE loves Italian Ice...OMCs...had mango, banana, spumoni, raspbery and sugar free lemon

MOL She said it was so dark she thought it was chocolate...FYI she loves Chocolate.

Presentation and info on containers was indoors.  Every sit was filled.

I learned that container plants should be planted in odd numbers..because you need a thriller (tall) plant, a filler plant and a spiller plant. Of course plants selected for the sun they will get.  I went with full sun for the deck. You could even do herb containers, all shade, partial sun or indoor plants. 

then we adjourned to the greenhouse...toasty but lots of fans. This is a very pretty 

facility.  Mom took lots of photos of flowers that she'll use on Flower Friday

Our thriller is Agastache (hummingbirds love it) tiny orange and pink flowers, our filler is a Hawaiian Snow bush, no blooms but very colorful leaves and stems and our spiller is Lysmachia creep Jenn.  The Agastache is perennial...woohoo.   Mom said once she  finished they put plant food on hers and she was ready to go home...OMCS she had to drive 20 miles on I-440 (at 1st rush hour) with that plant. Thank goodness Mom and the plant got home in one piece. (she put the seat belt around it...mol mol mol)

Sasha, my friend.....

It is with a very heavy heart that Mom and I prepared this post.

Our dear sweet friend Chef Sasha ran off to the Rainbow Bridge today, June 14, 2015 ~ 3 pm.

We hardly know where to start except to say we have known Sasha and her Mom since 2009.

Sasha loved everybuddy.  She sent the best greeting cards and was quick to cross her paws for all in need 

She always MADE A HUGE EFFORT to attend all Blogville Events and prepare the best post full of the most delectable food.  

I borrowed several pictures from Sasha blog.  She had big plans for the Blogville 

Rodeo and was working hard to get her Chuck Wagon full.

I was thrilled to have Sasha join me in 'friends ME-ssage during Girls night out.  We had such fun.

She was fearless, she loved her green dinosaur,  it didn't 

bother her that he was as big as she was. He was a friend with a smile and she loved him.  

Sasha love Bubbles and was always first to send out a Bubble message to anyone in need. She put special messages in them like

Peace, hug, sunshine, happy, comfort kisses, love and blessings.

Sasha will be in my heart always and I will never forget her quick smile and sweet, gentle 

nature.  Sasha run free my sweet girl....until we meet again...

Flower Friday This moment, see Beautiful

Today we are happy to join two of my gal Pals 

Dory

And Sugar

It is said beauty is in the eyes of the beholder....and we agree

BUT it is also very important to keep you eyes open wide for

surprises, like unexpected sand castles, miles from the beach, in the middle of a mall and gorgeous flowers every where.  

This afternoon Mom is MIA

About 2 weeks ago she rec'd an invitation to attend

a ladies' only function hosted by the peeps bank..

There is potential today for mom to create 'beautiful'.

The invite read in part,

"You are cordially invited to be our guest at Fairview Greenhouses and Garden Center

for a Ladies afternoon Out and Client appreciation."

A nice lady at the garden center will show Mom and others

how to select, coordinate and plant container gardens.

Guests will pot a container garden to take home.  Let me just say mom does not have a green thumb.  So this should be interesting.

There may or may not be a picture of said container garden 

sometime next week!!

BUT 

the best part of the invite was

REFRESHMENTS WILL BE ITALIAN ICE!!

Mom loves I scream and she is purrty sure she'll love
