SUNDAY PLATES and Stuff

First of all, thank you all for your emails and comments of concern about us and our daughter and SIL (who live in Morehead City on the NC Coast) during Hurricane Dorian.
We planned this past week's Mountain vacation back in June.  Which is about the time
they planned their vacation to Colorado. Thankfully their home did not suffer any damage like last year's visit from Florence.  My Grandkitties, Mia and Frisco's every need was being cared their next door neighbors.

Hello my friends we are home!!!
I missed you all and I hope everyone is well.

We returned from the beautiful North Carolina Mountains on September 7th.
I had my head in the clouds this week...I have 384 photos to sort through!!!
YEP we finally made it to the observation of Mt. Mitchell the highest
peak East of Mississippi, on September 6th.   Words cannot describe the beauty.
I will be featuring photos for a very long time.  Not sure how I will
group them.  Maybe chronologically but we shall see
The weather was beautiful each day

The Hills were truly alive and refreshing.

Great Smoky Mountains
VOCs are chemicals that have a high vapor pressure, which means that they can easily form vapors at room temperature. The millions of trees, bushes, and other plants in the Great Smoky Mountains all give off vapor, which comes together to create the fog that gives the mountains their signature smoky look

In case you can't read what is written on the photo:
"I don't recall the last time I saw a pay phone...we saw two while on vacation??!!
First thing that came to mind was....how many folks actually had a coin on them in this world
where PLASTIC and APPs rule?

  2. We are so happy that you made it through Dorian! We have thought about you non-stop! Your vacation looks like it was fabulous and we look forward to seeing all of the pictures! The last time mom used a pay phone was in Orlando AirePort probably close to 10 years ago.

  5. Welcome back, and we're glad your homes are okay. Mom and dad have been up to Mount Mitchell too, and now seeing these photos makes dad want to go back out there again. They just love the mountains all around the western part of the state, but now that they're back in Wilmington it's just a little harder for them to make the trip for a hike. We're looking forward to seeing all your photographs as you post them!

it seems you managed to duck the storm and that too with style - what a wonderful place you visited!!! Looking forward to the photies.

#8 - I think is more likely to be 'vegan too', as that is the :fashion: these days.
#10 - Suekie is an actual name - quite a few in the world have it.
#14 - it is a'handle' for someone on Tik Tok but am guessing it has something to do with Pat being a Red Sox fan?
#17 - relates either to the play called "Red" by John Logan...OR... to the online casino.
#18 - that could either be a coding reference... then again, ML may be Hispanic?
#20 - BOB is a National Home Inspection Examiner
#21 - instagram account of Ariane Vaughn ... am guessing she's a Scorpio and all for it.
#23 - Well... if it was here in the UK I'd say "Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) and The Racing Partnership (“TRP”)"...however, there is also "If you’re applying for an authorization to return to Canada (ARC), a temporary resident permit (TRP) "... OR this...
#24 - very probably just the name of the couple owning the car
#25 - as it is GPY not GYP, I don't think it is to do with Jeep - they'd've used the letter J anyway. This one defeats all searches rather, so it appears to be something that only the owner is fully aware of!!!

Looking forward to the next batch. You know I love these Sunday puzzles!!! YAM xx

  11. Beautiful vacation pictures! Wish we could go there! My ghostwriter still can't seem to remember an unusual license plate when she sees one. By the time she gets home, she's completely forgotten it. On pay phones: ghostwriter remembers having to call collect which involved talking to an operator who calls the person you want to talk to and asks if they would accept the charges for the call. This was great in an emergency before the age of cell phones!

  16. We have been thinking of you and your daughter and hoping that nasty storm missed you. Have a friend in Halifax whose home is I'm, but a neighbour has a try through the roof and they have no power and little cell reception. Be safe!

  18. Welcome back! And we are SO glad you and your family are safe from the storm. That’s funny about the pay phone. The mom saw pay phones when she was in the airport recently. She couldn’t believe they still had pay phones there (and she took a picture of the phone too!).

Sounds like a FABulous trip!!! I can't waits to see all the pics!
I guess if you were to use a payphone now a days, you would have to call collect....or be like Ma and always have at least a buck of change in your purse!
