First of all, thank you all for your emails and comments of concern about us and our daughter and SIL (who live in Morehead City on the NC Coast) during Hurricane Dorian.
We planned this past week's Mountain vacation back in June. Which is about the time
they planned their vacation to Colorado. Thankfully their home did not suffer any damage like last year's visit from Florence. My Grandkitties, Mia and Frisco's every need was being cared their next door neighbors.

VOCs are chemicals that have a high vapor pressure, which means that they can easily form vapors at room temperature. The millions of trees, bushes, and other plants in the Great Smoky Mountains all give off vapor, which comes together to create the fog that gives the mountains their signature smoky look

Hello my friends we are home!!!
I missed you all and I hope everyone is well.
We returned from the beautiful North Carolina Mountains on September 7th.
I had my head in the clouds this week...I have 384 photos to sort through!!!
YEP we finally made it to the observation of Mt. Mitchell the highest
peak East of Mississippi, on September 6th. Words cannot describe the beauty.
I will be featuring photos for a very long time. Not sure how I will
group them. Maybe chronologically but we shall see
The weather was beautiful each day

The Hills were truly alive and refreshing.

ReplyDeleteAnd I never new that about why the NC mountains are Smoky. V. interesting. Looking forward to more photos.
Cheers, Gail.
We are so happy that you made it through Dorian! We have thought about you non-stop! Your vacation looks like it was fabulous and we look forward to seeing all of the pictures! The last time mom used a pay phone was in Orlando AirePort probably close to 10 years ago.
ReplyDeletewelcome home, glad you are safe back in your nest and that both homes are ok... there are a few pay phones here but like you not sure who would have change. those mountains are so beautiful. can't wait to see what you saw.
ReplyDeleteWelcome home! I'm.glad you had a good trip, and thankful all was well upon your family's returns.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, and we're glad your homes are okay. Mom and dad have been up to Mount Mitchell too, and now seeing these photos makes dad want to go back out there again. They just love the mountains all around the western part of the state, but now that they're back in Wilmington it's just a little harder for them to make the trip for a hike. We're looking forward to seeing all your photographs as you post them!

ReplyDeleteit seems you managed to duck the storm and that too with style - what a wonderful place you visited!!! Looking forward to the photies.
#8 - I think is more likely to be 'vegan too', as that is the :fashion: these days.
#10 - Suekie is an actual name - quite a few in the world have it.
#14 - it is a'handle' for someone on Tik Tok but am guessing it has something to do with Pat being a Red Sox fan?
#17 - relates either to the play called "Red" by John Logan...OR... to the online casino.
#18 - that could either be a coding reference... then again, ML may be Hispanic?
#20 - BOB is a National Home Inspection Examiner
#21 - instagram account of Ariane Vaughn ... am guessing she's a Scorpio and all for it.
#23 - Well... if it was here in the UK I'd say "Arena Racing Company (“ARC”) and The Racing Partnership (“TRP”)"...however, there is also "If you’re applying for an authorization to return to Canada (ARC), a temporary resident permit (TRP) "... OR this...
#24 - very probably just the name of the couple owning the car
#25 - as it is GPY not GYP, I don't think it is to do with Jeep - they'd've used the letter J anyway. This one defeats all searches rather, so it appears to be something that only the owner is fully aware of!!!
Looking forward to the next batch. You know I love these Sunday puzzles!!! YAM xx
Hi ... happy homecoming to know that all are well and safe ...
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a good time. That picture is gorgeous. You all have a super Sunday.
ReplyDeleteWe're sure glad you had a grand time and we're sure glad the coast is clear!
ReplyDeleteWe're so happy to hear you and your daughter (and SIL) are all safe from the storm. It sounds like you had a great vacation and we can't wait to hear and see more about it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful vacation pictures! Wish we could go there! My ghostwriter still can't seem to remember an unusual license plate when she sees one. By the time she gets home, she's completely forgotten it. On pay phones: ghostwriter remembers having to call collect which involved talking to an operator who calls the person you want to talk to and asks if they would accept the charges for the call. This was great in an emergency before the age of cell phones!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed your vacation and that Dorian was no bother! Love the great photos.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that Dorian didn't cause you any trouble. It looks like a lovely holiday with beautiful weather.
ReplyDeleteGlad to read that everything made it through the storm okay. I carry coins all of the time, especially quarters.
ReplyDeleteGlad you're home. Sounds like you had a fabulous time.
ReplyDeleteWe have been thinking of you and your daughter and hoping that nasty storm missed you. Have a friend in Halifax whose home is I'm, but a neighbour has a try through the roof and they have no power and little cell reception. Be safe!
ReplyDeleteWelcome home and so very happy everyone is safe!!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures so far, can't wait to see more!!
Welcome back! And we are SO glad you and your family are safe from the storm. That’s funny about the pay phone. The mom saw pay phones when she was in the airport recently. She couldn’t believe they still had pay phones there (and she took a picture of the phone too!).
ReplyDeleteI like your fall header. I am glad you and your family were safe. I haven't seen a pay phone in years. XO
ReplyDeleteOh, I am soooooo glads you and your family is all safe! Ma kept tellin' me that you were super smart, and knows what to do, so I shouldn't worry! Guess she's right SOMETIMES! ☺
ReplyDeleteSounds like a FABulous trip!!! I can't waits to see all the pics!
I guess if you were to use a payphone now a days, you would have to call collect....or be like Ma and always have at least a buck of change in your purse!
Kisses,
Ruby ♥
We're all very happy that you and family are all OK with no damages or problems due to Mean Old Dorian. We were concerned. Looks like you had an amazing trip though and we'll look forward to your photos! Welcome Home!
ReplyDeleteHugs, Teddy
Happy Big Bad Dorian stayed away from the family! BBD just couldn't stop wobbling around. Glad you had good weather for your trip! The Smoky Mountains are beautiful in the Fall.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy y'all had a great trip. I can't wait to see all of the photos. I LOVE the mountains.
